It's Official! Jake Gyllenhaal Will Heat Up Broadway in Lanford Wilson’s Burn This in Reopened Hudson Theatre

After teasing us with various limited engagements, the rumors were true and Jake Gyllenhaal will return to the Main Stem in the first-ever Broadway revival of Lanford Wilson’s Burn This. Directed by Tony winner Michael Mayer, the play will reopen Ambassador Theatre Group’s Hudson Theatre, with previews beginning in February 2017. Opening night is set for March 6.

Burn This centers on four New Yorkers whose lives are uprooted by a young dancer's accidental death. Set in downtown New York in the raw and gritty 1980s, the combustible drama explores the spiritual and emotional isolation of Pale and Anna, two iconoclasts who are brought together in the wake of a life-changing event. The play premiered off-Broadway in 1987, later transferring to the Great White Way. The Signature Theatre Company revived the show off-Broadway 2002.

Gyllenhaal made his Broadway debut in Constellations. Other theater credits include Little Shop of Horrors at City Center, If There Is I Haven’t Found It Yet off-Broadway and This Is Our Youth in the West End. His numerous screen credits include Brokeback Mountain, for which he received an Oscar nod, Prisoners, Enemy, Source Code and Nightcrawler. He will next be seen on stage in a concert presentation of Sunday in the Park with George at City Center in the fall.
