6x01 “New and Improved Lorelai" | September 13, 2005
Picking up on the same night as last season's finale, Lorelai and Luke begin making plans for their future, but Luke is embarrassed when word spreads that Lorelai was the one who proposed. Still hurt over Rory's decision to drop out of Yale and move in with Emily and Richard, Lorelai tells her parents that they can take care of Rory from now on. Richard hires an old friend and respected attorney to help Rory get an easy sentence for stealing a yacht, but the judge gives Rory 300 hours of community service. Logan throws Rory a "felon" party.

6x02 “Fight Face" | September 20, 2005
Rory begins serving her 300 hours of community service and finds that life on a road crew is not pretty. Lorelai and Luke try to decide whether they will fix up Lorelai's house or buy the Twickham house. Luke's sister Liz begs him to hire her husband T.J. as a contractor. When Rory pays Luke a surprise visit at the diner to find out how Lorelai is, he feels obligated to tell her that he and Lorelai are engaged. Afterwards, Luke confronts Lorelai about her estrangement from Rory. Feeling lonely, Lorelai adopts a dog at the Stars Hollow pet fair. Finally, during a chance meeting, Lorelai and Rory have an angry confrontation about their mutual hurt feelings.

6x03 “The UnGraduate" | September 27, 2005
Excited about catering the wedding, Sookie pressures Lorelai to set a date, but Lorelai won’t commit. While completing her community service hours, Rory takes a job at Emily’s DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) office. Convinced that she has a rival for the job of DAR president, Emily uses Rory as her spy. Logan returns from Europe and returns to Yale, forcing Rory to confront her true feelings about dropping out of college. Lane and her band return from their summer on the road. Luke agrees to take care of Lorelai’s dog, Paul Anka, while she works late at the inn, and ends up rushing the dog to the vet. Finally, Lorelai admits to Luke her reason for putting off their wedding.

6x04 "Always a Godmother, Never a God" | October 4, 2005
Missing Rory, Lorelai tries to call her and is upset to find that Rory’s cell phone is no longer in service. Sookie asks Lorelai and Rory to be the godparents to her two children in the hope that they will reconcile when they see each other at the ceremony. However, mother and daughter end up fighting when Lorelai realizes that Rory gave her new cell number to Sookie but not to her. Logan learns that his father expects him to graduate this year and enter the family business. Wanting to break free from family pressures, Logan whisks Rory off to a weekend in New York.

6x05 “We’ve Got Magic to Do" | October 11, 2005
Lorelai needs Richard's help with her insurance after a small fire at the Dragonfly Inn and uses the occasion to talk to him about the fact that he didn't manage to get Rory back into Yale. Although he doesn't appreciate Lorelai's reprimand, Richard has to admit that Rory is not where she should be. Meanwhile, Rory organizes a fabulous D.A.R. party for Emily but the evening doesn't turn out so well when Richard confronts Mitchum Huntzberger, Logan's father, about his opinion on Rory's journalistic talents. At the same time, Emily has an even uglier confrontation with Logan's mother about Rory and Logan's relationship. In addition, Miss Patty's 28th annual dance recital is on Thursday night, and Lorelai decides that Luke should still participate in activities he likes, such as camping and fishing, instead of going to things he hates (like dance recitals) with Lorelai. Paris gets her first job.

6x06 “Welcome to the Dollhouse" | October 18, 2005
After trying to figure out what Rory's future plans are by talking to Logan, Richard finally admits that he made a mistake by letting Rory drop out of Yale and comes to Lorelai to find a solution. However, Logan mistakenly thinks that Richard wants to know when they are planning to marry. Also, Rory makes a big declaration to Logan; Taylor gets busy in Stars Hollow when he decides to change all the street names back to their historic names. An idea which doesn't please Lorelai when she realizes what used to be the name of the street where the Dragonfly Inn is located.

6x07 “Twenty-One is the Loneliest Number" | October 25, 2005
Lorelai refuses to listen to Richard's plan to bribe Rory into resuming school, saying that Rory has to want to go back on her own. Both Rory and Lorelai are saddened by the fact that their estrangement is keeping them apart on Rory's 21st birthday. Emily takes it upon herself to plan a party for her granddaughter when Rory shows no interest in the event. Richard and Emily find out that Rory and Logan have been sleeping together. Lorelai tries to convince Luke to participate in her mad scientist Halloween skit.

6x08 “Let Me Hear Your Balalaikas Ringing Out" | November 8, 2005
Rory is pleasantly surprised when her old flame Jess appears at her grandparents’ house and reveals an amazing development in his life. Rory agrees to go to dinner with Jess, and when Logan unexpectedly joins them, an ugly confrontation develops, leaving both Rory and Logan to face the choices they have made, and Jess finally encourages Rory about going back to Yale. Emily is concerned about Rory's sudden evasiveness and tries to exert some parental discipline. Meanwhile, Luke agrees to sponsor a local girls’ soccer team and Lorelai channels all her concerns about Rory into caring for her dog, Paul Anka.

6x09 “The Prodigal Daughter Returns" | November 15, 2005
Luke becomes jealous when Lorelai receives a phone call from Christopher. Luke makes a big deal about being honest with each other, but when he discovers that he has a daughter he never knew about, he is unsure of how to tell Lorelai. After Rory moves into Lane's apartment, re-enrolls in Yale, and scores herself a job, Rory and Lorelai take the first steps towards reconciliation.

6x10 “He's Slippin' 'Em Bread...Dig?”| November 22, 2005
After a long absence, Christopher reappears in Lorelai and Rory's lives. Luke struggles with what the new person in his life will mean to him and his relationship with Lorelai. Lorelai and Rory enjoy their first Thanksgiving at the Dragonfly Inn, and Rory receives surprising news about Logan. Meanwhile, on the eve of an important gig for the band, Lane has to deal with Zach's jealousy over a song Brian wrote about her.

6x11 “The Perfect Dress" | January 10, 2006
Feeling that he has missed too much and wants to get to know his newly discovered daughter April, Luke goes to have a talk with her mother, his former girlfriend Anna Nardini. Meanwhile, Lorelai sets a date for the wedding after finding the perfect dress, but she is worried by the nagging feeling that something is about to go wrong. Back at Yale, Rory happily moves into a dingy off-campus apartment with Paris and Doyle, and tries to avoid running into Logan. However, when Logan shows up at her apartment and declares his love for her, Rory breaks down.

6x12 “Just Like Gwen and Gavin" | January 17, 2006
Luke is showing signs that he hasn't slept much. Kirk organizes the Winter Carnival and Lorelai and Rory volunteer to man a carnival booth called "The Amazing Doggy Swami." At the inn, Lorelai takes care of the New England Maple Syrup Council. Zach is jealous of the time Lane is spending with a 30-year-old Asian man named Joe. At the Yale Daily News, Paris is making everyone except Rory uncomfortable with her demands, expectations and ideas. Later, the reporters gather together and talk about Paris and the fact that they think the paper is going down hill. The reporters don't ask Rory to be part of their discussion since she's living with Paris. But Rory sees the reporters in their meeting and they confide in her. Logan tries to mend his relationship with Rory by hiring the coffee cart guy to follow Rory around all day so she has instant access to coffee. Logan drops by the Inn to get help from Lorelai in regards to his relationship with Rory. Last but not least, Lorelai finds out about Luke's kid, April, and Luke asks Lorelai to postpone their wedding.

6x13 “Friday Night’s Alright for Fighting" | January 31, 2006
While Luke deals with the reality of having April in his life, Lorelai tries to pretend she doesn't mind the repercussions the new situation is having on their engagement. Rory's concern over Paris' lack of management skills at the Yale Daily News finally reaches a crisis point when most of the staff quits in protest. With Logan's help, Rory makes a valiant attempt to get the paper out on time. Meanwhile, Lorelai breaks the news to Richard and Emily that their money will no longer be needed for Rory's education, and the resentment starts to build. The subsequent Friday night dinner erupts into an emotional confrontation where all four Gilmores finally get their issues out on the table.

6x14 “You’ve Been Gilmored" | February 7, 2006
Emily tells Lorelai that she'd like to get to know her future son-in-law better and asks her to invite Luke over for dinner and Lorelai purposely fails to mention that the wedding has been postponed. The Yale Daily News staff finally fires Paris and chooses Rory to be the new editor. A furious Paris kicks Rory out of the apartment; Logan subsequently convinces her to move into his place. Christopher tells Lorelai about Rory's new living arrangement.

6x15 “A Vineyard Valentine" | February 14, 2006
As Valentine's Day approaches, Rory and Logan invite Lorelai and Luke to spend a weekend with them at Logan's family's house on Martha's Vineyard. Lorelai is upset by Luke's unfriendly attitude toward Logan. Luke's attitude changes when he realizes he forgot to buy Lorelai a Valentine gift, and Logan saves the day. When Lorelai finally confesses to Luke that she is worried the wedding will never take place, he reassures her that they will get married soon. The weekend ends in an ugly scene when Logan's father, Mitchum Huntzberger arrives.

6x16 “Bridesmaids Revisited" | February 28, 2006
Lorelai offers to help Christopher out by babysitting his 3-year-old daughter, Gigi, and is horrified by the toddler's terrible behavior. The next day, Rory and Logan attend the wedding of Logan's sister, Honor. While helping the bride and her three bridesmaids get ready, Rory is devastated to learn how Logan spent his time during their recent breakup. Heartbroken Lane gets a surprise from Zack at the diner.

6x17 “I'm OK, You're OK" | April 4, 2006
Rory forgives Logan, then needs some time for herself, so she pays a visit to Lorelai in Stars Hollow. Although Lorelai refuses to admit that she is upset, Rory can tell that she is bothered by the news that Luke will be gone for a few days on a field trip with his daughter, April. Against Lorelai's wishes, Rory pays a visit to the store owned by April's mother, Anna, to spy on her. Meanwhile, when Zack finally works up the courage to ask Mrs. Kim for permission to marry Lane, he is surprised at the deal she makes with him.

6x18 “The Real Paul Anka" | April 11, 2006
Although Rory and Logan are back together, Logan is miserable knowing that Rory hasn't really forgiven him, and he takes off with his friends for another stunt with the Life and Death Brigade. Rory accepts Jess's invitation to attend an open house at his new book store/art gallery/publishing house in Philadelphia. While there, she is surprised to run into Luke, who is accompanying his daughter April on an academic field trip. Back in Stars Hollow, Lorelai is horrified to find that Richard and Emily have been looking at real estate in her town.

6x19 “I Get a Sidekick Out of You" | April 18, 2006
Lane and Zack's wedding is coming up and since Luke is busy, Michel is Lorelai's first choice as a date for Lane and Zack's wedding, but he gets Celine Dion tickets and bails. Rory suggests that Chris go as Lorelai's date and Chris is totally psyched to do it. Grandma Kim is a Buddhist and doesn't know that Mrs. Kim is a Seventh Day Adventist. At Lane's wedding, Lorelai collapses and Christopher is there to take care of her.

6x20 “Super Cool Party People" | April 25, 2006
Luke decides to give April a birthday party at the diner. Lorelai volunteers to help, and is hurt when Luke explains that he still thinks it’s too soon for April and Lorelai to meet. However, Luke changes his mind when the party is a disaster, giving Lorelai a chance to bond with April while turning the party into a huge success. Meanwhile, Rory rushes to be with Logan at the hospital after he is seriously injured during a stunt with the Life and Death Brigade.

6x21 “Driving Miss Gilmore" | May 2, 2006
Rory is strict in keeping Logan on bed rest following his release from the hospital, enlisting in the help of Paris and Doyle to assure that he does not strain himself. She finds herself distracted, however, upon discovering that Mitchum spoke of her in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. Meanwhile, Emily suffers temporary blindness after a botched eye surgery and asks Lorelai's help in running errands after firing all of her hired help. Elsewhere, Liz announces her pregnancy to Luke and reveals that there is trouble between she and TJ.

6x22 “Partings" | May 9, 2006
On the evening of Logan's graduation from Yale, Rory throws him a wild party, but the knowledge that he is being forced to leave for London the next day makes their time together bittersweet. Meanwhile, at a Friday night dinner, Emily and Richard attempt to set Christopher up with an attractive young woman. Finally, Lorelai decides she was wrong to let Luke postpone their wedding for so long and delivers a tearful ultimatum.
