And little things after that, like it being important to Buffy that Tara came to her party, were lovely signs of this deeper bond. Buffy fought for Tara in Family and protected her, Tara returned the favour by being Buffy's support when she needed it and keeping her confidences.
The way the show does things like this is one of the reasons I'll always love it so much.
