There's another one as well. It's the Brad Pitt papparazzi one. It makes some type of noise as well. As for turning off the speakers well that's a great idea but as another poster stated they use them for music. I do as well not to mention other media like video's and things where my speakers need to be on. I realize advertisers want to do whatever it takes to get your attention but what's next, a jolt of electricity to your mouse.
