It should’ve been a hint to him from the start it wasn’t meant to be when he was an RA. Let alone the fact that he had a girlfriend at the time. He always wants Felicity when he has someone else. It’s such an unhealthy cycle for him.

What also amazes me is how the writers were so insistent on keeping this going as far as S4 but at the same time never wrote Felicity and Noel as a legit option romantically. Stuff always goes wrong or he’s with someone else or it’s just unhealthy overall. Look at them in S1 when he leaves her at a hotel. If I remember correctly, it’s over Ben. She’s totally not over him and never has been. The writers gave so many signs that Felicity and Noel have never been anything but friends. Anything more and it’s like the universe gets involved and slaps it away.
