On this Memorial Day, let’s remember that Memorial Day isn’t about barbecues and beer, it’s about honoring and remembering the sacrifices of the brave men and women who gave their lives defending their country. One of those brave men was my birth mother’s father, Thomas J. Sullivan, who was killed in action in the Normandy invasion in 1944 and who is buried there. He left behind a wife and his daughter, who was 7 when he gave his life for his country along with so many others who gave their lives that day. I also remember and honor my cousin John McNabb, who was killed in action in Vietnam. May God Bless everyone who served their country and may God especially Bless those who paid the ultimate price in the service of their country.
