Looking back at the show’s initial backstory with the Cardassian occupation of Bajor. One has to appreciate the irony of Cardassians like Damar ultimately needing Kira to help lead a resistance to liberate their planet from the Dominion.
They thought they were on the winning side and it cost them dearly. They were probably the biggest casualty of the war. Feels like long overdue karma. Though I don’t believe all Cardassians deserved what happens to their planet.
