Apparently Rory and Gigi had no connection later either, in AYITL she asks Chris how GiGi is doing and he says she is in Paris. If they had contact, Rory would surely know that. Rory was never really interested in GiGi either, at least it seemed that way. She never babysits or just visits her, even ignoring her at first when Lorelai and Chris eat at the inn and Rory is mad at Chris because of it.
