Good list, Steph. #4 is a good choice. See if there's any trauma from his early childhood.

November 23: Characters I’d Love An Update On (Where are they now that the book is over?)

1. She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb
• Jack Speight - did he ever get caught and put in jail because he tried the same sh++ with a different girl? Did his wife ever leave his ass?
• Dolores - at the end of the book she's trying to have a baby with Thayer. Are they able to conceive?

2. The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson
• the house is a character, imo. Does anyone ever bulldoze that evil home?

3. The Secret History by Donna Tartt, they all end up in a pretty dismal place but:
• Charles - does he ever get his alcoholism under control?
• Camilla - does she ever start to build an actual life for herself instead of just being a caretaker?

4. A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams
• Stella - does she ever leave Stanley’s ass?
• Blanche - is she ever released from mental institution?

5. Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier
• Max and the narrator, they lost their house and a police inquiry. What is married life like after those events?

6. We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson
• Merricat and Constance have a very unhealthy relationship and need to get away from their house. Do they ever take care of their issues?

7. The Lottery by Shirley Jackson
• the town.....do they ever stop with the b.s. stoning?

8. Tess of the D’Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy
• Angel, he never deserved Tess. He came to his senses too late. Does he get remarried, learn from his past mistakes, and appreciate his second wife in a way he never appreciated Tess?
• Alec.....freakin' Alec. Like Jack Speight, does he ever pay for his crimes?

9. The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
• I don't like how Mercedes and Dantes don't end up together. Ewww at him ending up with that child ward of his. I want him to be with Mercedes.

10. Rappaccini's Daughter by Nathaniel Hawthorne
• Does Giovanni feel bad for the poisoning?

11. The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen
• Does the prince ever learn who really saved him? Does he feel bad about rejecting her?

12. 1984 by George Orwell
• Is Big Brother ever taken down?
