Why are Americans so fat? (DOCUMENTARY)

I knew smoking was bad, and that people were getting fatter, but this blew my mind. Check this out.

In the U.S., we eat more than 1,000,000 animals an hour

In 1972, we spent 3 billion a year on fast food - today we spend more than 110 billion

Left unabated, obesity will surpass smoking as the leading cause of preventable death in America

Have any of you heard about Super Size Me? I want to see this for sure.

Just wanted to apologize to pismofilmdude! I've been rushing the last few weeks and I got blind and didn't see the link.

I think this will be really interesting. I wonder if any of the chains will dare to sue on whatever grounds they find - if any.

Realated news: Congress is trying to ban 'obesity' lawsuits against fast food chains.

I think they should.

McDonald's Launches Anti-Obesity Campaign

Thu Apr 15,10:45 AM ET Add Business - Reuters to My Yahoo!

CHICAGO (Reuters) - McDonald's Corp., the world's largest fast-food company, on Thursday launched an anti-obesity education campaign that it said would promote the importance of exercise and a balanced lifestyle.

The company, whose Big Macs and super-size french fries have drawn criticism for promoting obesity, said it is "committed to playing a responsible and active role" in solving the U.S. obesity problem. Some two-thirds of Americans are overweight.

I think many of us here in the US need to see this film. Soon obesity will be the leading cause of death in the US if society doesn't understand it's a problem.

The guy that did this is a complete insane genious! I've read a few interviews with him, and he talks about how he gained 30-odd pounds eating nothing but McDonald's and how whenever they asked him if he wanted fries, or supersizing, he would say yes. All during the food frenzy he felt like crap and had absolutely no energy. He completely ruined his body for the sake of this documentary.
Stupid, yes, but it shows you exactly what America is stuffing themselves with.

This sounds like an interesting movie. I hope it comes to my area so I can see it.

Is this film any relation to the book, "Fast food nation"?
