I appreciate a lot of films, so I'm just going to list my absolute favourites down here:

Movies
- American Beauty - it's just a really, really important film to me, because I think it speaks about some of the most important things in life.
- Similarly with The Hours.
- Donnie Darko
- Velvet Goldmine

Directors
- Andrei Tarkovsky, he's just the best director... his films really make you think.
- Zhang Yi Mou - really beautiful films
- Darren Aronofsky
- Todd Haines

Actors
Jonathan Rhys Meyers - most beautiful guy in the world!
Nicole Kidman
Kevin Spacey

Scenes
the 'touching people at the train station' scene from Unbreakable
the ending from American Beauty

Oh this is hard. I love so many movies.

Movies:
Donnie Darko - It's a little bizarre and it does not give you everything you need to know to understand the movie. And I really like movies you have to work for! The acting in this is also top notch.

The Goonies - Fun fun fun! This movie is just choc fill of quotes. I loved it when I was younger I liked the fact they swore as well. It seem more realistic.

Leon - I don't know what happened to Natalie Portman after this movie. But she's fantastic in this movie.

Little Women
Lord of the Rings
Spirited Away
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
Now and Then
The Truth about Cats and Dogs
Legends of the Fall
Peter Pan
Moulin Rouge
Amelie

Scenes:
Donnie Darko - 'I promise everything will be ok'

edited: I'll be back to finish the rest.

This is a good idea. But could you say something about at least one of the scenes/actresses/movies from the different categories?

Movies:
- Titanic: I love this movie so much. I have the poster in my room, the DVD, the VHS, the soundtrack, the books . . . my username is even from the movie! ("Are you of the Boston Dawsons?" "Uh, no, actually, the Chippewa Falls Dawsons.") This was the first real movie I saw and it's simply amazing.
- Moulin Rouge!: This is a great movie. Baz Luhrmann is one of my favorite directors. Plus I love Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor.
- Catch Me if You Can: This was very, very cool. Leo was really good in it. I gotta get it on DVD.
- Romeo+Juliet: It's so cool, I love it. Leo is, once again, great.
- Pirates of the Caribbean: Johnny Depp was really, really good. I want him to win the Oscar, but of course he won't. Plus it was also the first time I'd seen Orlando Bloom in a movie, and I love him now Keira Knightley too.

Actresses:
- Nicole Kidman: She's my absolute favorite. She's a wonderful actress.
- Kate Winslet: After I saw Titanic I became like obsessed with her. I thought she was the greatest thing EVER.

Actors:
- Leonardo DiCaprio: I love him. I'm trying to see all of his movies - so far I've seen . . . four. He's really hot but he's a great actor too. Even if you don't like him you have to admit he's good.
- Johnny Depp: 'Nuff said.

Directors:
- James Cameron: You graced the world with Titanic and I love you forever.
- Baz Luhrmann: He's very brilliant and his movies are different. Am hoping he'll win an Oscar one day (has he already?).

hello! everyone...
i love AMELIE. its a great movie, far away for the clichés but with absolutely all the kind of things that everyone can enjoy: love (of course), romance, faith, message, friendship, fantasy, oh my!! its totally amazing, you can be reflected in some situation eventually.
i like too the movie with Gwyneth Paltrow..mm i dont rememeber right now the name (i think the name is WHAT IF?)or something like. Is this movie when she miss the train and a parallel life start from that moment and you can see the 2 life´s that she had or (supossed to have) if she catch the train or if she´s not. its good cuz, everyone at that point are thinking "what if i did this or that" you know ?
Besides that, i kind of like the romantic - comedies genre, but not the stupid´s i like the ones with real subject like, the comedy DOWN WITH LOVE, NEVER BEEN KISSED or Baz Luhrman ROMEO + JULIET and i also enjoy the movies like JERRY MAGUIRE, IL POSTINO, CINEMA PARADISO.
And i absolutely love the trilogy of LORD OF THE RINGS! amazing story, amazing stages and amazing actors !!

sorry for my extended version of what i like...lol, i hope you can share with me some of these

see ya!!!

Rebel Without a Cause- I don't know what it is about this movie that touches something in me, but it makes me feel better. (I like James Dean movies, but this is my favorite.)

Lord of the Rings Trilogy- I can melt away with these movies. When I watching The Two Towers in the theatre I forgot I exisited for awhile and that chance means everything to me.

Groose Point Blank/ High Fidelity/ America's Sweethearts- Something about John Cussack movies that make me happy again for awhile.

The Virgin Suicides/ Lost in Translation- Sofia Coppola crafts a movie that just floats, and I can't help but love them.

i'm not going to name any movies or actors, just wanted to say that i'm a fan of movies that keep me in the same frame of mind. Like, i want a comedy to keep my laughing, or an action flick to have explosions nonstop, i want a drama to have me wanting to care about the characters from start to finish. And i want the hot girl in the meaningless movie to look hot throughout.

No, that's perfectly fine, General Jiang Wei. You don't have to use my categories. I was just giving examples. You can totally make up your own!
