The whole point of them standing far apart was that they were both so overwhelmed by what was happening was they didn't know what to do. Yeah, yeah. How hard is it to know to kiss? But this wasn't a planned proposal. It was spur of the moment and at that moment, they were both thinking, "Whoa. We really got engaged in the last ten seconds." They weren't disappointed-It was just one of those things where the moment kinda caught them off guard. Actually, I think Amy got a little dig in to some of the fans when Lorelai called Luke kissing her predictable. As for the kiss itself? I loved it. But maybe that's just me.

I think it was due to shock too. Personally, I think the scene would've been hokey if they had kissed. I enjoyed the shock value.

I totally felt Lorelai when she was telling Luke about wanting to let Rory do her own thing just like she did. And, how she wouldn't have listened to anyone back then so she kinda, sorta understands Rory.
What I didn't get was why she didn't go to Rory's court hearing... Part of me understands the other part doesn't. Rory could have been sent to trial or given a much harsher sentence. EGH! Luke's hair seriously bothered me. If they were going for continuity, they screwed it up. His hair has never been that long or that female looking as far as I can remember it. At least having it short would have made more sense. He could have had it cut the next morning or something. But, no one can use some Miracle Grow and grow that long hair overnight. AUGH! Was it just me, or were there too many commercials? Are they in need of extra funding (for hair extensions) that they had to show so many commercials? I would like to know the total screen time for this epi - it seemed really short and choppy. Kinda not feeling Lorelai's bottle throw. I was waiting for the real hurt/anger throw - egh! But, that last scene was heartfelt. Kirk cracked me up as did Babette and Miss Patty. Man, I love the townies. Michel as usually makes me laugh. As for Emily and Richard... I felt stung when Emily said, "We know you hate us." Man, that must kill to think that your child hates you. I know Lorelai is hurt, but man... she could have said something re that... Hate is a strong word. And, no matter how much on outs families get, hate is... well - a strong word with stronger feelings. Feelings that I don't think Lorelai feels yet - and hopefully never will. *whew* - How long was that? |

The problem with cliffhangers
I've taken a cue from TheJSW and titled this post. Yes, I'm a shameless theif.
But first, I'd like to thank the WB for inserting a few minutes of actual programming between their lovely commercials. How nice of them, doncha think? Is it just me, or did everyone's hair look awful? You'd think with all the money the WB is making by airing all those commercials, they'd have a few bucks lying around to hire better hair stylists. To me, tonight everyone was off. The proposal/answer scene was awkward, the pace was weird, and the dialogue was hit and miss; mostly miss because the humor seemed forced and inappropriate sometimes. Also, it seems AS-P has intimacy issues-- she's so hung up about not being "schmoopy" that she avoids portraying intimacy when she should do exactly that. But all that isn't the main reason this ep seemed off. It's because it's the 1st show of the season, and they have to resolve the cliffhanger, and set up the rest of the season. That's why I hate cliffhangers. When there's a cliffhanger, TPTB always have to go backward to the previous season and wrap things up before moving on to the new season. So the premiere isn't really the beginning of a new season but a continuation of the old season. Tonight's ep could have been the season 5 finale; and it didn't feel like a beginning. Also, I'm also one of those people who have never liked the GG season premieres, not one of them, because they seem to be slow moving and inactive. But, NAIL isn't the worst GG premiere. That award goes to Lazy-Hazy-Crazy Days, the season 3 premiere. That one drove me nuts! More later, I'm sure. __________________

i thought LG was going to throw the water bottle harder she just flung it but the scene did break my heart.
P.S my aunt and my mom saw the epi with me which doesnt happen often. |

Watching the ep as I type. It's so fun to figure out where they added all the background noises and stuff. The screeners are always so quiet.
Will catch up when I finally get home sometime tonight. Heh. Hope people liked the ep as much as I did and weren't disappointed after having read the reviews. ETA: Clips are posted when they are posted. Asking won't make them come. Jo has already stated that she will not put them up until 12am EST, 9pm PST |

I wasn't really disappointed with the episode. It seemed off a little but I thought it was pretty good.

I'm still waiting to see NAIL but from the recaps, pics and comments ITA that they should have had some kind of hug or kiss right after Luke said yes. That's just natural but maybe that's the point, ASP does things her own way. That's why we don't she them in the "throws of passion" in bed (OOC for the show) or Luke giving Lorelai the ring, still holding out for that in ep 2 teaser.
