[ Why Harry & Luna? ]

"The relationship between Harry and Luna has evolved from indifferent acquaintances in the beginning of "The Order of the Phoenix", to a friendship of comfort, support and true loyalty. Since her first appearance at the Hogwarts Express, Luna had a dreamy, surreal quality that others couldn't understand. Pegged as "loony" by classmates she keeps her composure and shows nothing but kindness and comprehension towards others. She reassures Harry that he is not crazy, and that she too can see the thestrals. Without hesitation or fear she professes complete belief in Harry's story of his battle with Voldemort, slowly turning the tide of doubt and suspicion against him. With nothing to gain and everything to lose, she joins in the fight at the Department of Mysteries, showing courage and bravery that was an aide to Harry and his friends. Finally she uses her father's "Quibbler" to publish Harry's true account, clearing his name and letting the wizarding world know that Voldemort was indeed back. At the end of "The Order of the Phoenix" Harry and Luna cement a strong bond and deep understanding of one another through their shared losses, as she helps to ease the pain of losing his beloved Godfather. Harry and Luna, although different in many ways, are also very similar. They both know the pain of being outcasts, of being different. Though they may not realize it, they desperately need each other. Harry needs her comfort and her ability to see what others cannot, or are unwilling to. She provides the lighter moments he so desperately needs in a time of great turmoil, as well as a spiritual connection that has been absent from his life thus far. And Luna needs Harry's friendship, his willingness to look past her "loony" exterior and see the girl underneath, giving her a chance to feel accepted. Will their relationship become something more? Perhaps. But even if romance is not in the future, it is their unique friendship, their deep connection that will keep us all inspired and willing to believe."

[ Reasons ]

1) Harry originally thought she was weird, but now he understands her and knows he can trust her.
2) She has always believed him!
3) He realized he doesn't mind talking to her about Sirius.
4) She can see the Thestrals too.
5) She helped him get his story published.
6) She always told him what she thought.
7) She is not going to flip out over every little thing Harry does *cough*CHO*cough*
8) He's the most powerful wizard, and in case you didn't notice, she is the only one that didn't get injured at the ministry, other than Harry.
9) She is "out to lunch" as JKR put it and that may be just what Harry needs.
10) Harry found that the terrible weight in his stomach seemed to have lessened slightly. And it was because of Luna.
11) Because they both know what it's like to be talked about behind their backs.
12) Because he offered to help her get back her stuff.
13) Because he'd rather spend time with her than go to the end-of-year feast.
14) Because they can ride off on a thestral in the moonlight without any trouble.
15) Because sometimes Luna understands Harry even better than Hermione or Ron.
16) Because he could trust Luna enough to tell her everything that was bothering him.
17) Because she makes Harry see outside his little world of the Gryffindor Common Room.
18) Because her flights of fancy help him to think outside the box.
19) Because her matter of fact manner grounds him.
20) Because Luna needs a bit of taming.
21) Because Luna doesn't need an excuse to use that Lion hat more often, but would be great if there was a special reason for it.
22) Because Luna needs someone who doesn't think she's an idiot and who's willing to stick up for her.
23) Because they're actually very alike in strange ways.
24) Because of the unconscious bond that they've created between each other.
25) Because Harry can't deny the fact that through Luna, he can see himself.

It's been a while since you have been around but nice to see you again!! and I totally agree with what you said about HBP concerning certain peoples of whom I will not mention in this paragraph because it is a spoiler....(at least I think it was you that said it,,,maybe Ana? aah my brain is fried here!!)....

Ok *whoever* (and I am still thinking it was Lenore here) that said they really didn't understand the whole H/G thang in this book and would have to go reread book 5....I totally agree!! I was like.."what tha--??" I mean I would never ,EVER (innocent eyes) knock the H/G ship or shippers...it was just weird for me....like totally out of the blue -smack me in the face-where did that come from-thing. Ya know?? But whatever. Like Ana said...we don't ship H/L for convenience or because it is a given(like Hr/R)...but because the ship intrigues us and makes us smile....and a big *WHAT-EVA!!!* to all those meanies who have the nerve to be mean to Ana and dis our ship, whether intentional or not....not cool...*WHAT-EVA!!!* hehehe...

BTW Lenore....I have this conspiracy theory floating 'round in my head....yeah...that somehow Harry was under the spell of a love potion and THAT'S why he suddenly loved Ginny(dpn't ask me how...I haven't worked that out yet...lol)....and Voldy is all behind it, because he will kill Ginny(which would suck but oh well) and use this as a weapon against Harry....and thus the spell will be broken leaving him to find comfort in Luna's open arms....hehehe...ok that's a bit far fetched....but hope springs eternal...and besides...what was up with all the talk about love potions in this book?? could they play into something to come? why haven't we heard of them in previous books?? and the quote that Dumbledore said about "the power of obsessive love"...that intrigues me. Why say that? What does it all mean?(hmm maybe that was a JKR "shout-out" to all the obsessive "shipers" out there..lololol) Am I crazy? aaaahhh....

Well, we're on the same boat (really!), 'cause I definitely didn't buy the H/G thing. But for the love of God, love potion? No, no, my Ginny wouldn't do that. She knows what she wants (although Harry took the first step) and I don't think she'd go that way.

I can picture Voldemort killing Ginny, but not just to attack Harry, but to please himself. Tom & Ginny have a history, for God's sake! Well, I'm just babbling now.

As for H/L, I totally picture them in a angsty scenario. Harry will seek comfort in Luna, because he knows she won't judge him. She's the only one who can really listen to his words and understand him in his silence.
