Like talking about how Alaric took care of Elena, but with him responding like "Yeah not hard to do it better than you" since he blew her up or something
Followed by that cute smile on both of their sides, knowing how they appreciate each other but never saying it.

They can also joke about finally being alive at the same time. Or make a big thing about their first drink together.
Although my sister made the terrible joke that Damon could return mid season and in the same episode Alaric dies. They won't dare

OMG, NOOOOOO, please, that would be terrible!!! They cannot do something like this, if Rick is back, it has to be for a long while and certainly to enjoy his buddy's company again, not to die the same moment he'll return

Alaric is pretty much immortal, they can't really kill him anymore His life was tied to Elena's. Elena died, so did Alaric. Alaric came back and Elena - well, she's still pretty much dead So for now I'd say he's safe
