Hey sorry I hope I didnt give too much away because I was torn about even watching it but I figured inquiring minds want to know. I really hope I didnt take any enjoyment away for anyone.
The proposal is in no way a joke. Luke and Lorelai are not in a romantic circumstance but Lorelai is very sweet ,sincere and genuine when she asks. She does not just blurt it out -it is very heartfelt. Luke is quietly stunned. (partly because I think he thinks she isnt in the same frame of mind as him from earlier in the ep with the job offer ect). These are all just my opinions so take it for what it is worth.I will be really anxious to hear what everyone thinks when they see it. As far as next season goes I think anything can happen, which must have been what ASP was planning.
