Lorelai gets out of Chris’ car outside her car after watching “Snakes on a Plane.” Lorelai is ranting about the movie. Chris said that it’s their 5th bad movie in a row. They go to divvy up the remaining candy and Chris tells Lorelai that she can keep it all. They kiss outside Lorelai’s front door for a good 10 seconds or so. Chris leaves. Lorelai goes inside and Rory comments that she’s cutting it close in getting in. Lorelai asks Rory if it’s weird that Chris didn’t come it or if it would be weird if he did come in. Rory confirms that it’s not weird if Chris doesn’t come in or does come in. Lorelai says that it’s going good between her and Chris. Rory says that Chris told her the same a few days ago. Rory tells Lorelai that she wants her to be careful because she doesn’t want to see her get hurt again. Rory is packing for Yale and is packing some of Lorelai’s clothes to take back with her.

In Luke’s Diner, Luke is serving food and Kirk is scaring away the customers. Kirk says that he’s having women-troubles. His mother and Lulu have both been very possessive lately and end up sniping at each other. Anna walks into the Diner and she wants to go over April’s schedule before she brings her by. She gives Luke a long list of phone numbers and information and notes. Anna still seems concerned.
Lorelai walks into the DI kitchen and Sookie is making soup. Martha is on the verge of walking and Sookie invites Lorelai over to watch, but Lorelai balks. Sookie says it’s because she wants to see if she gets invited on a date by Chris first. Lorelai comments that she’s been dating Chris for 6 weeks. Sookie says that they’ve known each other for 30 years. Then Sookie comments on Lorelai and Luke breaking up not too long before. She tells her to be careful.
Chris calls Lorelai and asks her out on a date and says that he’s planning something. He refuses to tell her what.

Rory is unpacking at her and Logan’s apt. She takes out the rocket and places it on a table and then checks the clock. She calls Logan and gets his voicemail and leaves him a message. She looks around and then her phone rings. She sounds happy and then she realizes it’s only Richard. Richard tells her that he got a job as a visiting lecturer and he’s calling to make sure that Rory is ok about it. Emily is in the background going through Richard’s suits.
Luke is looking over the school policies and is astounded at them prohibiting razor blades. Kirk, Miss Patty and Cesear are all piping in.
Anna and April walk in with all of April’s stuff. Anna is going to visit her mother. She says her byes and then leaves. Luke has set up her bed, a desk and a dresser. He shows her around the rest of the apartment. April says something blunt about the “browness” of the apartment and then apologizes for being blunt. Luke says it’s ok and they decide to go to Target to buy stuff for the apartment.

Rory walks into the YDN and congratulates the staff on their first publication of the year. She hands out assignments. Paris keeps comparing the YDN to The Current. Doyle seems to work there.
Lorelai runs down the stairs to answer the doorbell. Chris is standing there. Lorelai rants about not knowing how to dress since she doesn’t know where they’re going (Director’s Cut).
Luke is amazed at getting a ton of socks for cheap. Him and April bought quite a bit of stuff from Target. April talks about the making the place nicer for Luke to bring a lady over. Luke looks uncomfortable.
Lorelai and Chris are driving through the country. Chris pulls up to a barn and blows the horn twice. He tells Lorelai that they’re “here.” He tells her to stop talking and wait for it. All of a sudden a movie starts playing on the side of the barn. It’s Funny Face. In the glove compartment, there is candy. In the middle console, there’s popcorn. Lorelai looks happy and impressed. Chris puts his arm around her and they watch the movie.

Richard is on the phone with Emily while Emily is driving. As she hangs up, she gets pulled over by a police cruiser. The officer asks for her license and registration. She asks him why. He says that she was on the phone and she retorts back to him. She continues being rude to him and then he asks her if she has been drinking. He asks her to blow into a breathalyser.
Rory is at the art show looking around with amaze. She tries to use a watercooler and Lucy and Olivia ask her why she’s touching art. They’re only joking with her. Rory introduces herself as being there from the YDN. Lucy and Olivia tell Rory that they were both obsessed with Paris Gellar. They offer to show Rory around the show.
Lorelai and Chris are watching the end of the movie and are cuddling in the car. The song, “’S Wonderful, ‘S Marvelous” is being sung by the Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire on-screen. Chris tells Lorelai that GG is staying over at his mom’s and that if Lorelai wants to they can go over to his place. Lorelai says that she doesn’t trust Christopher or herself (“us”) yet with their relationship. Chris assures her that they can wait. Lorelai says thank you and then tells him that this whole thing was perfect. Lorelai’s phone rings. She talks for a minute and then tells Chris that they need to go collect Emily from jail. She says that her night just seems to be getting better and better.

Luke asks April if she brushed her teeth then he asks her if she needs a nightlight. April is trying to hook Luke up with her biology teacher. Luke tells April that him and Lorelai broke up, April says that Anna had told her. Luke explained that April doesn’t have to take care of him, but he’s here to take care of her.
Lorelai is at the police station taking pictures of the police officers. Emily is released and is ranting at the officers. Chris and Lorelai are driving Emily home and both are smirking. Lorelai cracks “jail” jokes. Emily is very upset. Lorelai asks why Emily called her instead of Richard. Emily explains that it’s because Richard was dining with the Dean of Undergraduate Studies after his first teaching assignment. Emily looks around and asks Lorelai and Chris what the car is all about and if they are on a date.
Rory takes Lucy and Olivia back to her apartment. The girls claim that Rory’s bf must be rich. Lucy comments on the many times of rice Rory has. Rory’s phone rings and mentions that it must be her Logan call. Logan asks her if she’s having a party. She says that she’s just hanging out with girls she met. Logan asks if her new boyfriend is there. Rory says that it’s just the girls. Rory asks Logan if she can call him back a bit later.
** They cut the “Groove-Off” scene**
Chris walks Lorelai home. Chris tells Lorelai that she is more excited over Emily being in jail than with his movie date. Lorelai says that bailing Emily out was just the cherry on top. Lorelai says that it’s really nice to be with someone who understands her. They kiss outside her front door. Chris says that he’ll call her tomorrow. She asks if GG is still with her grandmother and then invites Chris inside.
