THE GRUDGE!

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Jason Behr will star in The Grudge, a remake of the Japanese horror film Ju-On. Takashi Shimizu, who directed the original, will helm again with a script by Stephen Susco. The premise centers on a supernatural curse that results when an individual died angry. The curse goes from victim to victim like a virus. The film will incorporate elements of the original film and its three sequels.

A new video from the set of The Grudge has turned up online. Filming took place at various locations in Tokyo and at Toho Studios. You can watch the almost 8-minute clip in Windows Media format here! The video also includes footage from the original film this is based on, the Japanese horror pic Ju-On.

The English remake stars Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jason Behr, KaDee Strickland, Clea DuVall, William Mapother, and Bill Pullman. The Grudge is directed by Ju-On helmer Takashi Shimizu and produced by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Taka Ichise (Ringu).

The Grudge is the curse of one who dies in the grip of a powerful rage which gathers and affects the places in which that person lived. Those who encounter this murderous supernatural curse die and a new curse is born -- passed like a virus, from victim to victim in an endless, growing chain of horror.

Columbia Pictures is handling North American distribution for the movie and plans to release The Grudge in Fall 2004

Ok, I was thinking we could talk about what we hoped to see in The Grudge. I'm sure we all know by now the basic premise for the movie, what Jason's role will be etc, but there are still things that I'm sure each of us would like to experience during the movie.

For example, Would you like to see Jason and Sarah's characters be all kissy face, or not?

Would you like to see Jason be scared out of his mind, or be the protector of Sarah?

Do you want to see lots of gore, or would you enjoy the scarier, 'unseen' moments?

Who would you most like to see Jason interact with in the film, apart from Sarah?

Have a think about it, and post away!

Ju-On Coming To U.S.

Lions Gate will release Takashi Shimizu's original Japanese supernatural horror film Ju-On (The Grudge) in Los Angeles and New York on July 23, before expanding its limited release to other American cities, the Creature Corner Web site reported. Sony is currently producing an American version of the movie, also directed by Shimizu. That film, titled The Grudge, is currently in post-production and stars Sarah Michelle Gellar and Jason Behr, but it won't hit theaters until the fall.

After its initial opening, Lions Gate, in conjunction with Vitagraph Films (Bubba Ho-tep), will expand Ju-On to Chicago, San Francisco, San Diego and Seattle, the Web site reported.

Ju-On was a hit in its original Japanese release, prompting Sam Raimi's Ghost House Productions to mount the American remake, which was shot in Tokyo this past winter. It deals with a curse that befalls a house in a Tokyo, instilling a murderous rage.
