That's what we've been saying this whole time after Rey closed the door. That she understands she can't be the one to save him and that he has to do that on his own. And when he does she'll be there waiting for him

I will never get over his expression in that scene - as Rey continues to look at him contemplating how to react, and it makes him wonder for a split second, is she going to come back to him?

And look behind him - half dark, half light. The light is actually twinkling through, now that he and Rey have locked eye gazes.

If THAT is not symbolic, then I don't know what is.

Yeah, the the play with lights in the movies is very telling. Both JJ and Rian knew what they were doing.

Kylo in the Junior Novel is kinda jealous

Hmm, that's interesting - HE'S the one to break the connection in that scene. (In the Junior novel, anyway.) He's too unsettled by the "monster" reference to keep facing her
