Pfft, I already found it.

So, i tried the episode III game, I have to say, it's the most 3-d Side scrolling game I've ever seen....I'm not very fond of it.

I haven't played it yet. I do have "best buy bucks" in the value of 60$ so I'm hoping to cash those in and buy the game.

I'm developing 2 more characters on KOTOR II. I know...I guess I'm obsessed with making the "perfect" character and converting all of my crew to the dark side...I've done all of them to the LS before

laf.....save the $$ and get god of war.

While Episode III has the jedi academy engine....you have virtually no choice on what you do....you might as well be playing Mario Bros.

Yeah, but the cool thing is, after you defeat certain characters you can play the game with them. I think Count Dooku and Mace are two of them.

I can't get God of War b/c it's not available for the x-box. Maybe on PC. Since my PC is state of the art now

Did I mention I love the AMD Athlon64 Processor!

Oh yeah, that's right, you only have an xBox, so you can't get the COOLEST FREAKING GAME ON THE EARTH!

I'm resurrecting this thread because the coolest Mod for KOTOR has been made:

It is the D20 Adaptation Mod for KOTOR II.

What this means is that it makes the game less like a hack-n-slash video game and more like the tabletop, pen and paper Star Wars role playing game.

From the read me:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PART III: Features (prt3)

Let us begin by explaining what was altered, and why.

-> The Jedi Consular and Jedi Sentinel Classed switched.

Why? Let me explain.
In the original RPG there are only two Jedi classes available: Jedi Consular and
Jedi Guardian. Consular is more of a diplomat, so he focuses on non-combat
abilities such as Skills. Guardian is more of a fighter, so he mostly gains
Feats. Both classes are equally trained in the force. There is no reason for
them not to be. Now, in KOTOR we see a third class introduced, while the other
two remain: Jedi Sentinel. In KOTOR we see a class that focuses on Force Powers.
For some strange reason, the developers decided to make the Consular
Force-oriented, and the Sentinel Skill-oriented. Well, since a Skill-oriented
class already existed in the original RPG (Consular), I decided to make Sentinel
Force-Oriented, and Consular Skill-oriented as he should be in the first place.
Thus, everything was switched (Skill Tables, Feat Tables, Saving Throws, Class
abilities and powers, Descriptions, etc.)

-> All Skills are Class Skills for Jedi, and Tech Specialist.

In the original tabletop game, there are more than 30 skills, not even
including Force skills. Now, in KOTOR are only 8 to do the job. In the tabletop
game, there is a special Skill called Craft. This Skill is followed by a
specific group of items (example: Craft: Lightsabres, Craft: Blasters, Craft:
Droids, etc.). It is used as a check, when the player creates something. It can
be gained multiple times, with a different kind of item group each time. In KOTOR
such skill does not exist (and unfortunately I could not add it. If anybody
knows how, inform me). All the checks at the workbench are calculated with your
other skills. Now, normally, all Jedi Classes in the original RPG have Craft as
a Class Skill. Since it does not exist in KOTOR, though, all the appropriate
Classes needed for the workbench checks should be Class Skills, then. Also, the
Tech Specialist, is supposed to be a master Artisan, so he also, for the same
reasons should have all skills class skills.

-> All Prestige Classes and Tech Specialist gain Skill Focus Feats (+2
aptitude bonus to a specific Skill).
-> All Prestige Classes learn Superior Lightsabre Focus Feat.
-> All Prestige Classes have equal saving throw tables.

Well, the prestige classes should be better than normal ones, so if normal
ones have all Skills Class Skills, prestige classes gain Skill Focus. I do not
think I need to explain why Tech Specialist also gains those Feats :|.
It is way too unbalanced to give to Weapon Master/Marauder about 8 more
feats than anybody else, since the bonuses of the other Prestige classes... suck.
Well, I tried to keep the balance and remembered the original prestige class, from
the Power of the Jedi sourcebook. The reason Weapon Master is called Weapon Master
is because he specialises in weapons (duh). Many weapons, not just the lightsabre.
And since the KOTOR adaptation is already... broken, as we see he gains all weapon
specialisation feats, plus unique feats, plus the best saving throws, etc. well,
I thought let's balance the whole thing. Thus, superior lightsaber focus was given
to all Prestige classes.
Ever wondered why Jedi Master sucks? Take a look at his saving throws.
They are even worse than the Consular's (?!?). Now, they are not. Prestige Classes
have the same saving throw table. All of them. I do not think I need to explain
why.

-> XP table changed. You may reach lvl 50 by the end of the game.
-> You gain a prestige class not on lvl 15, but lvl 25.
-> Enemies level up also as you do.

I really did not understand why, although the cap is on lvl 50, you never
reach it without cheats, glitches, and generally not approved means. Although
the original game also has the cap on lvl 20 (the only lvl 20 character in the
Star Wars universe is Yoda. Even the Emperor is 19. Most Jedi Masters of the
counsil are about lvl 14-15), you gain much more between each levels. Since this
is not what happening in KOTOR, I believe lvl 50 equals what is gained at the
original game. Thus I altered the XP table.
Since now it is easy to reach lvl 50, it would be unfair to gain the prestige
class at lvl 15, so now you gain it at lvl 25.
I noticed that the more the game advances, the more easy it becomes.
Therefore I altered slightly the way enemies advance. Hopefully now battles will
be more interesting.

-> Every Power was categorised into three groups: Alter, Control and Sense.

The basic Jedi classes in the original D20 RPG at levels 1, 3 and 4 learn
those three techniques. Force Powers there, are also “Skills”. In order to have
ranks in them, the Jedi must know the technique required. (example: Affect Mind
is an Alter force skill, Move Object (Force Push in KOTOR) is also Alter). By
adding them to the game, it gains more realism. So, I named those powers “Force
Training”, and once you gain each one, then, and only then, the powers of the
appropriate group will be available. The powers can be learned at level 1, 6 and
12, depending on the class.
Alter, as the name says, affects the will of others, and also objects.
Force Push, Affect Mind, Shock, Stun, etc. are examples of Alter technique.
Since this is more “spellish”, Sentinels (as Master Force Users) gain it on
lvl 1, Consulars on lvl 6 and Guardians on lvl 12.
Control deals with inner strength. All the boosting powers belong there.
Heal, Burst of Speed, Force Aura, Force Body, etc. are some examples. This is
more of a warrior technique, so Guardians gain it on lvl 1, Sentinels on lvl 6
and Consulars on lvl 12.
Sense, is more passive, allowing the Jedi to better understand their
surroundings, and motives of friends and foes alike, thus protecting themselves
better. Energy Resistance, Force Resistance and also Fear are some examples.
This technique is ideal for the Consular, as a diplomat, observer and advisor.
Thus he gains it on lvl 1, Guardian gains it on lvl 6 and Sentinel on lvl 12.
Hopefully this will add more flavour to the game, and also distinguish each
class even more.

-> Dark\Light side cannot use opposite alignment Powers.

The video game and the tabletop game, are completely different in the way
they handle the two sides. In the original game, there are no light side points.
Jedi are guardians of peace and justice, they are supposed to be light side.
Dark Side points are a BAD thing. You gain nothing from them (as you should), on
the contrary, the more you have, the weaker you become. Ever wondered why Sith
die young, why Palpatine is like that? Well, I think you have your answer. Now,
every time you use Powers of the Dark Side, you gain a Dark Side point (now you
see why Force Lightning is NOT used that much.. ). Since this concept was not
(sadly) embraced in KOTOR, I simply forbade the usage of powers of the different
alignment, by raising their costs by.. many times more than you will ever be able
to pay for. . At last, the 100% light side characters will not slaughter with
Force Storm here and there.. (Ever imagined anyone from the council doing so?
Neither do I. And if you did,.. then, sadly, you did not understand Star Wars at
All..)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PART IV: Sabres, Crystals, and Lightsabre Upgrades (prt4)

This mod includes 1 new sabre, 4 new crystals, and 3 new lightsabre upgrade parts,
the following are small descriptions of each.

<FullName>’s Lightsaber:

Sabers: Well, since YOU create you first lightsabre, I do not find a reason why
not naming it by your name. When the exile first build his/her lightsabre,
instead of the normal ones, you get one with your signature on it. Later on the
game, you also may build more of them at the workbench, along with normal ones
(see part V).

Color Crystal:

The original Star Wars lightsabres were using Illum crystals,
more specifically Adegan. This crystal has only three colour variations (Blue,
Green and Red. The ones we see in the movies). The other crystals are more rare,
and also there is another reason Adegan was used more commonly. It is very
susceptible to Force Charging, so it is easier to create a Lightsabre with it.
Hopefully this clears out why, only one Jedi has a Lightsabre that is not of
these three colors. Mace Windu (a 18 lvl Guardian, most powerfull Jedi after
Master Yoda..). Even Yoda has a green one. But KOTOR isn't entirely wrong about
all those colours...
In the years of the Old Republic, the source of crystals was Ruusan. There
one could find a variety of crystals, hence the many colours we see. But Ruusan
was destroyed. So Jedi had to find another source, enters Illum. And as stated
before, only three colours could be found there.
Originally I planned to change all the colour crystals to show their
actual name, but unfortunatelly, not enough information could be found. Still,
I wanted to make your personal lightsabers to be slightly more powerfull, especially
since later on you would be given the chance to create more at the workbench
(part v), thus Adegan crystalls is more of a tribute rather than an actual source.
Red Adegan adds Fire damage to the Lightsabre, Blue Ice, and Green Electric. Video
Game is still a video game after all. And part of it is having fun
Lastly, a small clarification about the purple crystal. Many believe that
it is named Electrum. Actually, Mace Windu's lightsaber is MADE of Electrum, a
metal alloy, and this is NOT the name of the crystal he uses. The name is unknown
to me, and never did I find any information about it.

Power Crystal:

Diamond, Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire.
Those four crystals are Attribute boosters. They are propably the only "broken"
part of the mod, but I really liked the idea. Normally, nothing alters the attributes
in the tabletop game, except implants. And implants cut ones connection to the
force . But, since this is a video game, this somehow changes. Now, those four
crystals are similar to the D-Package Implants. Diamond boosts all atributes by +2,
and the other three boost two of them by +4. Those crystals are given to you by Kreia
when you gain a prestige class.

Lightsabre Upgrades:

Ultima Energy Cell: Increases Damage-Energy
Ultima Emitter: Attack Bonus and Increased Damage-Unstoppable
Ultima Mirrored Lens: On Hit Stun, Increased Defense and Blaster Bolt Deflection

Final Fantasy easter egg Just for fun. The name is the same of the Ultima spell
in many Final Fantasy games, and since I am a big fan of 'em (actually they are my best
video game series ever) I wanted to create some items reminding people of them. In the
Final Fantasy series there is also a tribute to Star Wars. Biggs and Wedge are names used
in some Final Fantasy games... So I wanted to do the same

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PART V: Workbench (prt5)

Yes, you may create some additional items on the workbench now, including SEWING
robes. Yes, believe me, sewing is much more easier that weaponsmithing, and since you can
do the second one, not being able to do the first one is rather hard to believe, especially
since you are an exile, so you have to do almost everything by yourself.
The items creatable are basically robes (almost all of them), lightsabers (with
a high rank in Repair) and a set of custom items. That would be, first of all your personal
lightsabers, then a set of custom developed gear. That would be a custom implant, a custom
armpad, a belt, and of source your personal robe. This robe is white, and there is a
reason for it. It is a tribute to Japan. The Jedi Order is very much influenced by the
japanese tradition and myth. The most clear example of this is the many names of the Jedi
traditions, forms, etc. Even the name "Jedi" has its roots there. White, in Japan is the
colour of death. If you watch japanese movies or animation, you may have noticed that
either the main villain is wearing white, the climax scene of a final confrontation
is rendered in white, the hero many times wears white, etc. But, why the exile, you will
say, especially if he has taken the light path. Simple. Death has also a meaning of
transition, of discarding old ways to embrace new ones, or simply turn away from the
previous situation on to the next one. In japanese culture, the hero is often tormented
by something from his past. This he has to face, and finally, he achieves his goal by
overcoming it. Reminds you anything of our story? Of course. The exile, his past... See
the resemblance. Also his defiance to the counsil is also symbolised by this. So, whatever
the path you will take, there is a reason for your robe to be white. Last note on this
is, of course, Atris. Remember what she is wearing, and remember what she does...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been replaying the game from scratch and this really enhances the experience. Especially, having to "unlock" the various force powers before you even use them. Also, it makes the Consulur the class more like the movies because logically, someone who favors diplomacy and non-violent actions is going to be the most skilled in a variety of fields (for both Jedi Master and Sith Lord).

I also like the inclusion of REAL Star Wars mythology regarding lightsaber crystal availability and construction and why the crystals enfused with the Force make the Jedi and Lightsaber a truly formidable weapon -- And it proves it IS the Force that makes the Lightsaber the weapon that it is

So, if you've been putting off getting the PC versions of either KOTOR I or II... I highly recommend you do it because it is mods like these that really enhance the experience and make for almost a completely different game.

Seriously... The thing about the Never Winter Nights Engine... That KOTOR is based on... is that it is incredibly easy to Mod and the fact its core design is built around the Dungeons & Dragons 2.0 rules tjhat the SW table top RPGs use.

The stuff this guy did is incredible. He added new levels of Force Powers complete with icons. He balanced the game -- Which it wasn't for the PC version; It was incredibly easy even on Hard Difficulty -- And everything else he said in the readme above... Yet, if you really look at what he did, it isn't impossible and very reasonable.

The only thing he left out was Defense Bonuses (BAB) that you and your party gain as you gain more experience. Someone else did a slight BAB mod and if you play the game with these two mods it becomes very strategical and less hack-and-slash and action oriented... But still fun at the same time.

The only thing he couldn't do (and he mentioned this) was add the 30+ Skills the table top version has. He couldn't do this because skill classes are hardcoded into the executable. However, other modders are finding ways to add new classes and Prestiege Classes and this should extend the replayability of the game even further.

I would definitely recommend you pick up the PC version because if you have a fairly strong CPU and GPU... You can play the game with all the graphics features like AA and AF turned up and it blows away the XBox version in this aspect alone. Also, because of the sheer amount of more RAMand processor power most PCs have compared to the XBox the games play so much more smooth and fluid since it isn't trying to be played on 1999-ear technology that the XBox has.
