It is!

I think I need an NJO break and will read Bel Ami next.

I am too. There were lots of books not on my school reading list

I'm only reading Bel Ami cause Robert filmed the movie. Never read De Maupassant before.
Did Flaubert write Madame Bovery? I hated it. I could not get past the first 10 pages. The descriptions...I had no idea what I was reading about. So confused.

We read both Bel Ami and Madame Bovary in my French lit class. There wasn't much going on in either of them. Madame Bovary makes women look capricious and shallow. My French prof went on about how she's sexually liberated and no one can accept her for it, but that was crap. Her husband was a totally nice guy and she just cheated on him over and over again.

Oh so that is what what happens in the book.
Why did the descriptions in the first few pages have to be so BORING and not understandable.

Honestly, I wouldn't even bother reading Bel Ami if Robert never made the movie.

You're complaining? I had to read it in French.

I understand. Sometimes we have to sacrifice for love.

Not to be outdone, I'm going to post a pic of my stack this evening.

I guess you had to read it for school. At least I didn't. I had the pleasure of dropping it like a hot potato.

That's right. Though at the moment, I am having not trouble with it. Good translation, perhaps?

Jude Law did in Road to Perdition. Well, he was a photographer.

Awaiting your stacks!

Maybe. I didn't find it particularly hard, but not all that interesting either.

I didn't get the pic posted last night, so I'll do it today.

Figuratively or literally?

I will. Today. I promise.

Both.
I get the impression there are no sex scenes described. Anytime he was with a hooker it fades to black. But I guess once he starts sleeping with important women it will be described.

I am really looking forward to seeing Rob in the film.

Pinky swear?

I still haven't posted the pic. I fail.

I put Bel Ami into google translate. Well it's the same thing in English as in French. But then I press the listen icon and in French it is so pretty. Then for English it butchers it! It sounds like salami only starting with a "B".

So what does Bel Ami mean in English?

Yea, sex scenes with important women aren't described either. But he did just snub the prostitute Rachel in front of his mistress.

What are you waiting for?
