Well honestly with Palpatine, I do feel like we got no background, but at least he had a bit of a personality and there was a whole twist if you count the prequels and The Clone Wars. Snoke was just there. No twist. Nothing.

All TLJ villains are lame (I'm not counting Kylo as a villain), it makes me wonder who's gonna step up as the big baddie in the next one. People are betting on Hux but he's kinda of a joke so far.
