I saw this video about how editing really saved ANH. It changed the order of scenes and it changed how Luke was introduced. It really goes to show how important editing is and how it can make a movie stronger

Love that the opening crawl was edited to make it to the point. Info dumps don't work. You have to let things unfold organically.

Now DePalma is a good friend to tell him the truth that it was bad and confusing.

And pacing and mood of a scene is everything!


Editing is so underrated. Marica Lucas is underrated. I never noticed that the climax was edited to add tension with the Death Star about to blow up the Rebel base and that it wasn't actually filmed that way.

And how smart to use already filmed footage instead of doing back in for reshoots. Because I doubt they had the money to do that.

I think Hollywood loves info dumps because they feel like audiences are dumb and need to be told everything. They think audiences can't piece anything together.

I never noticed the voice over stuff because she made it so natural. I need to pay more attention to editing.

Good thing they changed Luke's intro because in the original one he's such a dork and I think with a main character you need to wait to reveal the dorkiness.

I don't think I saw this video. I saw the one where they have too many cuts.

Luke's original intro v. where he ends up in ROTJ shows lots of character growth.

Just tossed on ANH and at first was like at Tarkin being leader but than thought back to The Citidel arc from The Clone Wars about how he also had fallen into favor with Palps so Anakin/Vader not for this movie guess makes sense
