I like having minorities here, keeps things interesting To me it just felt out of character because it went against what we were showed Padme to be in the first two movies. To lose the will to live with two newborns just seems selfish to me and I can't really picture a mom doing that regardless of what's going on with her Sith husband

I had that same issue, Tar The notion of Padme not regaining the strength to live on for her children seemed absurd to me. But in retrospect, I viewed it as realistic in terms of what Anakin (inadvertently) did to her. Force choking her had probably half-killed her. Padme's life force was basically draining away from the moment he overpowered her. Maybe it's not the best way to entice feminists to watch the movie, but I think George Lucas was presenting the love story as extremely doomed by this point and showing that Anakin's vision of Padme in mortal danger was a mirroring of his own descent and foreshadowing what he would tragically do to her. As a sucker for tragedies, I can't help but admire it... In a way. I admire the guts that Lucas had to actually show her dying for that reason in line with Anakin's turn to the dark.
One thing I did enjoy about Padme in ROTS is that she wasn't as naive as people like to think. That key scene where she and Anakin are almost having a Reylo-like Force bond moment and they're seeing each other across the galaxy with actually seeing each other, was enough to show that Padme seemed to know what was coming. __________________

I never payed much attention to that scene or Padme's feelings or emotions, but you're right, Gwen, she definitely seems uneasy like she knows something is coming

Wow loads to which I love, so gonna catch up and comment on a few posts
Gwen|Tereza love having the two of you here because you two bring so much discussion and different view points ... ever since the movie came out like what 13 years ago which I saw in cinema as a movie date ... I had been all against the treatment of Padme, how it seemed that she had been weak|whinny bothered me ... however think next rewatch of RoTS am going to take what you've discussed and see if I can see a different POV Quote:

Thanks, Sarah I just wanna say that I really like being here, because eventhough we don't always agree on things, people here are always so nice and respectful of different opinions. We can have a civilised discussion, where no one is attacking the other, which is kinda rare lately on the internet.

Ooh love fest
As far as George Lucas' intention, he flat out said that he wrote Anakin/Padme in a way that no one with an ounce of cynicism would enjoy (which is a slap in the face of the shippers). So I think we give the writing more credit than it deserves __________________

Did Lucas talk about Anakin/Padme in ROTS or in general?
