Legacy background is very important though b/c you are going 100 years ahead, gotta lay down the groundwork for each character, etc. Legacy has many interesting characters/plot twists. Stay with it if you can.

Empire's End was a huge disappointment, personally. I expected a lot out of that book, and it didn't deliver.

Alex is right. THere's a lot of stuff to catch up on....stay with it, it'll pull through.

Empire's End was none too impressive. Dark Empire 2 was better than that, but none of that series of comics ever got the empire right -he was just done as a cliche villain, with zero intelligence. It was a relief when they finally killed him off.

To be honest, I didn't really like Dark Empire 1 and 2 or End. Those early 90's comics while the stories were good (for me), the art/color looked bland (compared to the comics that DH has done in the last 5 years or so).

Crimson Empire had this character called Carnor Jax. Why not just call him Carnor Poop Bucket and be done with it? How do they get away with calling a character Jax? Oh here comes the great imperial Royal Guard who's named after a toilet.

I have both Crimson Empire comics, while they aren't my favorite they are OK.

You should check out a one shot called ShadowStalker. It's rare, but it's good if you can get it at a comic shop or ebay.

I've read that one. They serialized it in a Star Wars magazine way back. It's not terrible but it's connected to Shadows of Empire. I hate Shadows of Empire.

I mean, where do we start? I've been told that at one point at least Shadows of Empire was supposed to be serious canon. As in movie-level canon, not just EU canon. Which is apparently why they stuffed the Outrider into the special edition. Now this really pisses me off, because it's just a video game-novel-comic combination and doesn't belong in movie canon. Furthermore, it reads like fan fiction. For starters, it's got three characters who are to some extent like Mary Sues.

Firstly, we have Bash Fender or Hash Vendor, or whatever his name is -Han Solo wannabe who pops up in the story like "Look, here's our character hanging out with the Star Wars heroes, isn't that cool?" They even stuff him into the Hoth battle. And he's got a ship that looks like the Falcon. Mary Sue Han wannabe. Next we have Xizor. Big hype, here comes a bad guy who challenges Darth Vader's position as the Emperor's favorite. Like, "Look how cool our villain is, see him rival Darth Vader!" And then we get "Look, our villain turns Leia on". Fanboy fantasy. Meanwhile, there's Jix, who's the most bearable of the three, but who's still the writers going "Look, see our character be casual with Darth Vader -isn't that cool?" Fanfiction, plain and simple.

And then we get pandering to fanboys with a whole story about how Boba Fett is the coolest of the bounty hunters. Makes Shadows all the more fanfictionish. Plus there's Guri, a droid bodyguard who looks like a sexy human female -clear pandering to fanboys who want to screw a droid. Makes it yet more fanfictionish. Shadows of Empire reads like cheap fanfiction written by a giddy fanboy. Doesn't belong in any sort of canon.

Plus they make Leia's bounty hunter disguise not her idea or the heroes' idea, which is just uncalled for taking stuff from the main characters. And did they have to subject Leia to Xizor's "charms"? I hate it when they pull that crap on characters.

It's a load of crap. Seriously overhyped crap. From the era of the special editions and the last-time-on-video campaign which gave us the message that the originals were going to be totally replaced by the special edition. In other words, from a time when Lucasfilm was eroding their own authority by doing things that betrayed Star Wars. I guess Shadows of Empire fits right in there.

I think a lot of folks idea of Canon versus EU is going to crumble in the not so distant future. As George has less and less involvement in the TV series, what do you call cannon? Are the 1st seasons of each cannon and everything after that not? At some point, it's all Star Wars....problems happen, just don't get hung up on them.

This issue of KOTOR wasn't the best, but I know they're setting up the next arc, so it's bound to be a little slow.

Canon is the original three films in their original forms. Everything else is EU. That should be simple enough for people to understand.

Also, if people care about what Lucas thinks, well, he'll never consider most of the EU canon, no matter how confused fans might get about canon.
