I'll say.
Didn't they know one day prequels would be made?

I can't say much about the older comics either.
I have only read the Clone Wars TPB volumes. And I loved those. I Quinlan Vos.

In the mean time, Dark Horse stepped in with the Tales series, focusing on the ancient jedi, which quickly became one of the best selling series of all time.

As it stands, it was one of the worst financial decisions of the 90's that Marvel made, and they nearly went under because of it.
Dark Empire was Dark Horse's first Star Wars comic, not Tales of the Jedi. Marvel were told to stop making Star Wars comics in 86. But then they were allowed to make the Droids and Ewoks comics which went later than 86. In the late 80s they were going to do Dark Empire. So they didn't just give up the license after 86. I have to wonder if there's more to the story than you're aware of, because it sounds fishy Marvel wanting to do a particular comic (Dark Empire -they even advertised it) and then Dark Horse ending up doing it. Doesn't sound to me like a simple case of willingly giving up the license.

Also, I doubt Marvel nearly went under specifically because of Star Wars. There was much more going on in Marvel and the comics industry other than just Star Wars.

Back around the late 80s and early 90s I was aware of no definite sign that Lucas was ever going to make another Star Wars film. And he didn't, he just made the prequels.

I first saw Star Wars when I was... about 12 so that was circa 1993/1994. And it was at a friend's house. And I specifically remember her telling me after we watch the trilogy (which then had the Episode IV, V and VI titles) that GL was going to make the I - III prequels one day. And I remember being soooo excited. And I remember waiting for years and waiting for the news that he'd make them. So I'd imagine if she knew about them there must have been some news that he'd make them.

Well 1993 was a bit later than the period I'm talking about, the period in which the comics switched to Dark Horse. But there was always this thing that Lucas was supposed to make not just the prequels but the sequel trilogy too. But around the turn of the 80s/90s it began to look like Lucas had given up on that. So you got the Zahn trilogy in 91 marketed as the sequels Lucas wasn't going to make. The expanded universe started to build up big around the early 90s because there weren't any films on the horizon and people felt the need to turn to something else.

Definitely the EU got a "kick start" after Zahn's trilogy came out

I still think DH SW comics are a good product right now, with Legacy and KOTOR.

Just did, and I'm shocked the whole thing went down so fast

I wonder what's going to happen. Do you think Ganner is dead now, the way they drew it, when Celeste force pushed him into the fall it appeared that his neck snapped (I wouldn't mind one bit btw, Ganner has been most unpleasant character of late).

I fear for Azlyn Rae's life and for Celeste. I think one or both will die next issue and I'm not ready for that to happen, as both characters have gotten better.

Nice to see Malady actually DO something. I find her lack of Sith Knowledge quite disturbing, Appears that Darth Wyryyk (sp) is the main guy with Sith Knowledge and power. I still find it strange he stayed behind to meditate, normally Sith don't do that. It's a Jedi trait.

Liked that Talon is back, and still got to Cade. Cade is such a player. I feel bad for Deliah now. She's so in love with him, and Cade is just passing through. I think he cares, but not as much. I think the childhood love with Cade and Azlyn sort of reminds me of Anakin Solo and Tahiri Veilia. When he healed Talon there was a bond, plus they did the deed together as well.

I hope some SITH die next issue, b/c there are so few good guys and so many bad guys. Oh, and the Zabrak Sith, was that a Darth Maul tribute? Darth Reave? As in Christopher Reeve...kind of insulting. He went down too easy

I wish there were more action panels in the comic in general, this was sort of choppy. Maybe it felt that way looking at it on my PC. Once I get the actual comic it'll probably be better.

Liked the pencil art, Celeste looking better than ever (even possessed and all)

Going to order some comics at the end of the month.

Here's an interview with the mastermind behind Legacy:
Comic Book Resources > CBR News: Ostrander Uses the Force in “Vector”

And I agree, nice to see Malady do something, but she's sneaky...be wary of her.

As for Wrylock (or however you spell it), I bet his got battle meditation going on...

Did you notice who wasn't there? Where was Nihl?

As for Talon....I can see it as a long term project to break her of the sith and convert her, it'll happen, I know it. And I also think Rae's dead, she'll give her life for Cade. And I don't think we're lucky enough to have the Imperial Knight die. ( think Ganner's the red headed one. Antares is the other one).

I don't know, Malady seems rather weak to me. I think Shado Vao should best her in lightsaber combat and she isn't as powerful as a Naga Sadow as far as Sith Alchemy!

Nihl got demoted I think to being a "FIST" instead of a "Hand". That's what I read over on the TFN, Ostrander posts on every issue related thread, kind of cool

So Azlyn will die, Celeste will die...this sucks. Really does. It's going to break Cade's heart for Azlyn. I don't think he'll end up with Deliah. Even if Talon goes with Cade and is converted, he's got no business being with her either.

Draco is his 1st name, the one that is a moron basically. He'll never end up with marisiah, we just know it. I think Celeste snapped his neck. I like Ganner (blonde guy), he seems to serve the force and NOT the emperor as abscent mindedly as Draco does.

I wonder if he's related to the Ganner that gave his life on Coruscant during the NJO.

As for Malady, I don't know, I think she's sneaky. She may be pretending to be less powerful only to be under-estimated.

Celeste is dying? Sez who? I think she'll stay around.

Yeah, he's a first, but he's still powerful....why not keep him around somewhere in the back ground. He seems to have brought a lot of other sith with him.

This was up on TFn

Jerry, I've now read from a "credible source" that Celeste will not die I don't know. I really do hope they keep her around. you'd be surprised the fanbase she's gathered for being such a small comic book character. Most of the fans want to see her live in the LEGACY era and live out her "remaining days" there, doing something free of Karness Murr.

Ostrander said that "Nihl" could be still "recovering from the wounds and or as a "FIST" be given command of a battle cruiser group and sent away.

I still say that Nihl will turn on Krayt eventually. I just know it.

No, the Ganner from NJO didn't have any kids, but they are described about the same in appearance, so you never know?

Ostrander when pushed said that as we go along in the future issues we'll learn more about the IK and their origins, etc.

So who will die at the end of the VECTOR arc?

Azlyn Rae

Well, you'll have to read the below to find out some new stuff...Dark Horse for March is now up for display (thx to Rebelscum).

I wonder if Ganner's a clone.....wouldn't go past the Imperials cloning old Jedi to get the power right away.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic #39"Dueling Ambitions" (Part 1 of 3)
Written by John Jackson Miller
Pencils by Brian Ching
Color by Michael Atiyeh
Cover by Daryl Mandryk

On sale March 18
40 pages

Combat sports and high-speed racing in the Old Republic! Zayne and Gryph -- now partners in "crime" -- along with Jarael and Rohlan, prepare to rip off the big-business world of sport dueling. Gryph has himself in the perfect position for the con, until Zayne enters himself into the Open, Jarael becomes oddly distracted, and even Rohlan finds himself taking part in the duels. If that weren't enough, veteran warrior Goethar Kleej inexplicably forces upon Zayne an incredible handicap . . .

Star Wars: Legacy #34 "Storms" (Part 1 of 2)
Written by John Ostrander
Cover by Brad Anderson

On sale March 25
40 pages

After their climactic battle against Darth Krayt, Cade and his crew are hurtling through a lightning storm with mortally wounded Imperial Knight Azlyn Rae and Jedi Knight Shado Vao. They hope to reach the planet Kiffer, where Bantha Rawk might help with Cade's seemingly impossible plan to save Azlyn. The Sith, too, are handling the aftermath of the battle on Had Abbadon. Some will awaken to find the battle did not end as they believed . . .

Star Wars: The Clone Wars -- The Wind Raiders of Taloraan
Written by Jon Ostrander
Art by Wayne Lo

On sale May 27
96 pages
Digest-sized.

Jedi Knights Anakin and Obi-Wan, with Padawan Ahsoka, travel to the planet Taloraan in hopes of gaining some useful allies for the Republic. But the two ruling groups on the planet are not particularly interested in making a treaty -- the Defrandi are already more sympathetic toward the Separatists, and the Wind Raiders are simply unfriendly to everyone! It may be a merely impossible mission for the Jedi, or one that might end in disaster!

Darn, I guess the preview gave it away...Azlyn "mortaly wounded", but can't Cade heal her? He did bring back his former master from "near death" when Ossus was attacked years ago.

Like that Brian Ching is back to do the pencil art for KOTOR, I'm not as excited about where Zayne and the crew maybe headed, but I'll be open minded about it.

Legacy cover art is just right down CHILLING, but angry looking SITH with tats and intent to kill in their eyes have that effect on Jedi

I'm holding off on all of these Clone Wars Comics for now. Maybe someday.

That's my feeling too with KOTOR....I hope they get somthing going with it soon.

As for Rae....you know, I can only think that after the bond was formed with him and talon, maybe he fears forming another bond like that. Remember, cade likes his privacy.

I wasn't a big fan of this one....now if it was Talon on the cover, I might feel better.
