I think Rian Johnson is being hypocritical getting up on his high horse about the internet attacks on Kelly Marie Tran. Certainly people shouldn't be getting personal about the actress, but if you look at the film, The Last Jedi, Johnson set her up to be disliked, in the way she was written and directed. So I think his supposed horror at the reaction she's received rings a bit hollow. He threw her under the bus in that film. There is this pretence that the film is pro-female in its portrayal of women, but I find it quite misogynistic. Judging by the film, Rian Johnson doesn't seem to think women can be strong without emphatically putting down men. That's a very negative view of women that ties in with the misogynistic view that any advance for women in equality is automatically a loss for men. The film seems designed to create misogynists, so I'm hardly surprised at the reaction it got. I'll do my best to avoid any films by Rian Johnson in the future.

He also threw Boyega under the bus in TLJ. Of course, it all goes back to Kennedy.

Kennedy's the one who literally laughed at the idea of restoring the original films, so I can't stand her.

I hope the rumor of her stepping down is true cause she's done enough damage. Plus her obsession with casting a brunette white woman with a British accent is annoying.

Me too. If she does step down I hope the next CEO isn't worse than her.

Yeah, I remember when Amy Pascal stepped down as the CEO of Sony, and her replacement was Tom Rothman who apparently did damage to the X-Men films when he was the CEO of Fox.

All considered, I think the new Star Wars doesn't have a clue how to portray female characters and is constantly screwing it up. Contrast with the Marvel Netflix shows, which have a long list of excellent female characters -strong, intelligent, complex, relatable, believable, welll acted and well written. My avie of Jessica Jones is meant to celebrate one of the best female characters I've ever seen onscreen. But Rey, for example, pales by comparison. They couldn't even portray Leia right. Maybe they should have let Carrie Fisher write the part. She was a damn sight more intelligent than the writers writing these new Star Wars films. Carrie, we miss you.

It's a shame the sequel trilogy can't be rebooted like other movies. Or can it?
