The whole movie is about human rights The point of the animals was to open Finn's eyes about how much horror can be hidden between something that appears beautiful. Like horse races and stuff like that. He was too focused on saving Rey to give a rat's ass about anything else going on in the universe so that was the purpose, according to Rian...
