Untrue. Canon is about what's the real thing. The prequels most manifestly are not the real thing and the new films, being built on a foundation that includes the prequels, can't be the real thing either. I also disagree with the "it's just a movie" view. Movies are art. Art matters. Star Wars matters.

Canon isn't what some "creator" or suit declares is the story, nor is it what you like or dislike. Canon is what's the genuine article. There's nothing genuine about the prequels and anything built on a foundation including the prequels can't be counted as canon either.
