The one with Bruce Willis was called First Kill and I honestly thought Hayden was great in it. He plays a dad who has to retrieve his son from a kidnapper who's on the run from a shooting. Sounds boring and generic (and the ending is predictable) but he was good in it. He did do a lot of his infamous pouting and fury, but the situation called for it.


The only thing other than Star Wars that I'd seen Hayden in was a Goosebumps episode He played a kid called Zane who was turned into a dummy. Ah, the 90's.


If I'm being completely honest, I wanted Hayden to be better in Star Wars. People seem to blame George Lucas' scripts (and yes, they were awkward as hell a lot of the time) but Hayden couldn't really get beyond this wooden performance... I can't figure out if he THOUGHT it was a good idea to play a Jedi that way, or if he was simply a kid with too little acting experience. Both, I guess.

I doubt I'd agree with you about Hayden's performance in First Kill if I saw the film. I think I'd find him pathetic in the role. Like in the other films I've seen him in that he did fairly recently, Outcast and American Heist.

When I first saw AOTC I was dumbstruck out how bad Hayden was. I couldn't believe it. And he was even worse in ROTS. "You underestimate my POWEerr!!"

It's all subjective I truly agree with you that he's shockingly wooden in Star Wars. People act as if he improved so much in ROTS but that line you quoted was terrible, too.


I think it's a shame. They needed Anakin and Padme's romance to be the forefront of the Prequels, but it's hard to take it seriously when the line delivery is so weird (from them both, Natalie too,) and when Anakin leaves Padme to fend for herself in ROTS despite supposedly being devoted to her

It sounds shallow, but Padme calling him "Annie" is something I found bizarre and creepy


Just the way she kept telling him to keep his distance in AOTC, then she's pouring her heart out to him about half an hour later... It came out of nowhere.
