I always thought Leia and Shmi looked very much alike.
More than Leia and Padmé did.

Shmi looks way different to Leia.
I don't see the big Luke-Hayden resemblence. DiCaprio would never have been a fitting Anakin.

The Lloyd-Portman interaction always struck me as more heartfelt and affecting than the Hayden-Portman stuff. One thing is Hayden's performances seem false to me.

In the eye area they are drastically different.

Maybe if you don't look carefully, but if you look close they're very different.

I thought so too.

It is all about point of view because I see so much of Leia in Shmi. The eyes, the jaw line, shape of the nose, shape of forehead and hairline. You can really see a relation.

And even in the split screen of Luke and Anakin, looking at the bottom 3/4 of the face (bridge of the nose to jaw) similar structure.

No, a careful study demonstrates that Carrie Fisher is markedly different in those areas from Pernilla August.
In that picture maybe, be really it's not so much so. Their overall faces are very different.

From the first time I saw Shmi in TPM I said, "she looks like Leia. Good casting."

Father and son look most alike in RotS/RotJ to me.

It's all POV. Different people see different details.

I completely agree with you there sum1. In the hands of a better actor, I think that Anakin's struggles and his journey to the dark side could have been much more effectively conveyed. Hayden's acting in ATOC and ROTS seemed wooden to me, and I found that disappointing, since Anakin/Vader was so central to the entire Star Wars saga.

For that reason, I found the love story of Leia and Han to be much more convincing than the love story of Anakin and Padme.
