I guess it depends on which story you read. I don’t know about the new canon
 but Jude Watson wrote about it in her The Last Jedi series with the old EU. |

I know Sabé has been trying to solve the mystery of her death in the new canon.
In the old canon, I think the Empire blamed her death on the Jedi. |
