Here's an interesting article that stated that originally, Obi-Wan wasn't supposed to die in A New Hope:
Wait, What? Obi-Wan Kenobi Wasn't Going to Die in A*New Hope Personally, I would have preferred that he didn't die and I would have like to have seen him guide Luke through the other Original Trilogy Movies. He had cameo spots as a ghost in the other two movies but it wasn't the same. __________________

I love how everything played out, but it definitely would've been cool to see him alive for longer! He's such a great character. Maybe we would've seen him in more fight scenes, helping actively with Luke's training...
