Here's an interesting article that stated that originally, Obi-Wan wasn't supposed to die in A New Hope:

Wait, What? Obi-Wan Kenobi Wasn't Going to Die in A*New Hope

Personally, I would have preferred that he didn't die and I would have like to have seen him guide Luke through the other Original Trilogy Movies. He had cameo spots as a ghost in the other two movies but it wasn't the same.

I like Kenobi's death. I think it adds emotional seriousness to the film.

Oh it definitely does, sum, but Alec Guinness was such a great actor and Obi-Wan was such an important character that I would have liked to have seen more of the actor and the character in the subsequent films. Plus in retrospect the line “You can't win, Vader. If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine” didn’t really ring true, at least to me, because although he became a Force Ghost, we just saw him in a few scenes in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi and he didn’t really seem powerful to me at all.

Yeah, the Jedi are always talking nonsense.

I love how everything played out, but it definitely would've been cool to see him alive for longer! He's such a great character. Maybe we would've seen him in more fight scenes, helping actively with Luke's training...

That's how I feel too.

He's adorable.
