Majel Barrett-Roddenberry has passed
I posting up a very similar article here to the one that I posted in the Star Trek forum...why, you ask? Majel was one of the guiding forces, along with Gene, of serial science fiction through the 60's and 70's. George Lucas has stated many times, if not for the Roddenberrys, there would have been no Star Wars for us to watch.

A founder of modern Science Fiction has passed, it is truly a sad day. The original post from Star Trek board is below:

To put simply, if Gene was the father of Star Trek, then she was Star Trek's mother, guiding it through the generations. She will be missed.

The name wasn't too familiar but I do recognize her in the pictures.

Indeed it is.

In her last act in the Star Trek universe, she'll be the voice of the Enterprise computer in the upcoming Star Trek XI.

Eventually, I would assume, after all, it's got over 700 hours of TV episodes already.

I know someone that has most of it.

They still need to get the 3rd season of the original series and all of enterprise, but they have TNG, DS9 and VOY. That's seasons 7's a piece, with 26 episodes per season.
