Their UST started with the encounter in the woods, blew up with interrogation and fight didn't resolve anything just added more UST.



I want to analyse this scene for a second. It's very LOTR-esque, very You Shall Not Pass! We know what happened, after. Gandalf the Grey returned as Gandalf the White. More powerful. KR and Rey are destined to return more powerful. But anyway, look at the light, cause light is very important in these movies. There's no red on his side cause she extinguished his symbol of the dark side. her blue lightsaber is shining as in Light prevails. But there's red light (symbol of the Dark Side) between them. It isn't on his side, it's between them. At this moment, they aren't Dark vs Light, they are both Light but Darkness is between them. I don't know. It screams important for the future but in what way? Any thoughts?

I'd say he's shocked and impressed, which is why he made the teacher comment He's lonely and saw the opportunity to have someone by his side who he admired and connected with.
