So far "Order 66" positive reviews on amazon and not so much on TFN (where the real hardcore SW book fans reside).

Basically TK puts her own "spin on everything"

Steph, here is a spoiler for you...
Spoiler:
Etain dies, and of course KT manages to blame the 'Jedi' for it! Nice.

Hmmm, can't say I am surprised. Well I will be borrowing Order 66 from the library soon. Not giving in to buy a HC, especially when the rest of the series is in PB.

I will say one thing though, in a story that takes place in such a big galaxy it's not such a bad thing to get different point of views.

It's not about that, its KT imposing her will/views on the EU as we know it that I disagree with. If she was just a "one shot writer, or a trilogy writer" and that's it, fine. But she's on pace to write over 15 SW novels. That's leaving your "mark" on something, changing it. Before she's done she may write the most SW ever! Which is a darn scary thing for someone like me who disagrees with her views on Jedi in general.

If Order 66 is released in PB, I'll buy it then. I don't use the library, (haven't since HS).

Well that because of Del Ray. Or Lucasbooks, or whoever contracts the authors. They should have a few authors with different views write an equal amount of books so that there is an EU out there with well rounded views.
But nothing is perfect.

Don't knock the library. It's a great place to find books you want to read when short on cash or unsure if you want to own the book.

I'm not doing that...I'm just saying I haven't used a library since HS

Who knows, with the stupid decision to release the next series of books in hardcover only, I may have to get used to going there and checking out books instead of buying them.

The lowdown on KT is that she is an extremely fast writer and always meets or exceeds deadlines. So Del Rey's contracted her to write more SW novels. Although there is vocal protest against her opinions in some of her work (like me), the sales of her books are good, which is another sign (of course that is just the SW brand name. You and I can write a novel, and if it was licensed by LucasBooks, and published by Del Rey, we'd be best selling authors at least for one week, I guarantee it!).

The good news about KT (as far as I'm concerned) is that she isn't writting any more series about where the story is currently in the EU, post the LOTF train.

After Order 66 (which is her biggest anti Jedi view book), she's got a Fett novel scheduled (should be already written, or working on it?), and then she's got a new series that will be titled Imperial Commando (I'm sure you can guess what this will be about. ) So in a way it'll be good. Write Mandalorians and Clones and stay away from Jedi

Meanwhile, I've seriously lost my edge reading lately. College football and pro football season have my free time on weekends occupied. I do need to finish "Street of Shadows" soon.

Not sure what's next after that...oh yeah, the Clone Wars KT novel that came out, I bought it and never read it. It'll be interesting to see how far away from the film it is.

Sorry, sometimes things get misunderstood in text.

I know I will be borrowing them and not buying.

No doubt!

Well, maybe they are taking fans' comments into consideration and that is why she has all the Mando/Clone books for the near future.

Well, I am kind of uninspired to read too. Not that anything has taken my time, I am just super tired lately. I will get through Merchant of Venice this week though.

So we are both struggling We need a great SW book to get us out of this funk!

I've got my reading plan after "Street of Shadows", is Clone Wars. After that...start Dark Nest Trilogy.

"Shadows of Mindor" by Stover can't get here fast enough. It'll be the only SW book I buy for the rest of the year

Yes, Steph, yes I did admit it.

The thing with KT is that she's got a view point that isn't Jedi or Sith. And a lot o fans are getting tired of the Force fixing everything, much like they did with Star Trek and its technobabble. Clones and Mando's get the job done with skill, so it's finding a Niche.

Don't worry, it's more than likely a fad, they'll all go back to their force loving ways eventually.

OK...We've got the James Luceno "Falcon" Adventure novel with Han, Leia and Alana coming out OCTOBER 17th.

This is Sue Rostoni's last blog announcement book release schedule...and some shocking names appear!

Here's the line up as of this moment, at least as it stands through June 2011. The dates are penciled in - as always, things can and do change. Any errors in the below are totally my fault. I hope there's at least one surprise......

November 25, 2008 - trade paperback: CLONE WARS: WILD SPACE by Karen Miller. This novel stars Obi-Wan Kenobi and Bail Organa and takes place primarily in............ wild space! We're working on the cover now, and hopefully we'll have something to post before too much longer.

December 30, 2008 - Hardcover: LUKE SKYWALKER AND THE SHADOWS OF MINDOR by Matthew Stover. This one's been on the official site - you've seen the cover and copy.

January 27, 2009 - Paperback: CORUSCANT NIGHTS 3: PATTERNS OF FORCE by Michael Reaves. This has been on the official site as well - cover and copy. In the back of the book is a one-page introduction to the FATE OF THE JEDI series. Not an excerpt, just an intro.

April 7, 2009 - Hardcover: FATE OF THE JEDI 1: OUTCAST by Aaron Allston. Luke and Ben attempt to follow Jacen's previous journey in the hopes of discovering what and how various Force-using groups influenced him to accept and use dark side powers. No cover yet - but we should have a cover direction by the end of next week. Hopefully.

April 28, 2009 - Paperback: BLOOD OATH, by Elaine Cunningham. This is Zekk's story and takes place after his mishap in the battle in INVINCIBLE. Yes, he still lives. We have just received cover concepts on this one - the artist is Dave Seeley. A ZEKK STORY!

April 28, 2009 - Paperback: INDIANA JONES AND THE ARMY OF THE DEAD by Steve Perry. Right, this one's not a Star Wars novel. It stars Indiana Jones and is set during WWII when Indy takes a side trip to visit "Mac" McHale in Haiti. Cover concepts by Craig Howell have just been received.

May 19, 2009 - Trade Paperback: CLONE WARS: NO PRISONERS by Karen Traviss. This Clone Wars novel stars Anakin and Ahsoka, Captain Rex, Count Dooku and a few others, but no prisoners.

July 7, 2009 - Hardcover: FATE OF THE JEDI 2: ENIGMA by Christie Golden. Continues the FATE OF THE JEDI story..... major developments, new characters, lotsa stuff happens.

August 4, 2009 - Paperback: Imperial Commando: 501st by Karen Traviss. Great title, huh? Let the Jedi bashing continue...or will it be Sith Bashing now?

October 6, 2009 - Hardcover: FATE OF THE JEDI 3 by Troy Denning. More hapans... er, happens. Sorry for the typo, it means nothing.

November 1, 2009 - Paperback: Untitled horror novel by Joe Schreiber takes place between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back and should be read under the covers by flashlight. Interesting!

December 30, 2009 - Hardcover: Untitled Darth Bane novel by Drew Karpyshyn. I don't have the outline for this one yet, but I'm hoping it continues the story of Darth Bane and his apprentice Zannah. I'm dying to see how the two of them get along. Hope it's better than the 2nd book and more like the 1st!

January 2010 -- Paperback: Untitled by Paul Kemp. This one sort of takes place during the Great Hyperspace War, and then.... well, you'll see. This is the one that involves Jaden Korr. Figure that out! Interesting

February 2010 - Hardcover: FATE OF THE JEDI 4 by Aaron Allston.

May 2010 - Hardcover: FATE OF THE JEDI 5 by Christie Golden.

July 2010 - Paperback: IMPERIAL COMMANDO 2 by Karen Traviss.

August 2010 - Hardcover: FATE OF THE JEDI 6 by Troy Denning.

October 2010 - Hardcover: Untitled by Alex Irvine. This is a stand-alone novel starring... are you ready? Nomi Sunrider!! THIS IS THE BIG SURPRISE...Nomi Sunrider is a legendary name in the Jedi Order!

November 2010 - Hardcover: FATE OF THE JEDI 7 by Aaron Allston.

January 2011 - Hardcover: FATE OF THE JEDI 8 by Christie Golden.

March 2011 - Paperback: Untitled Boba Fett novel by Karen Traviss. Stars Boba Fett. This was supposed to come out sooner according ot rumors?

April 2011 - Hardcover: FATE OF THE JEDI 9 by Troy Denning. Wraps up the series....Scare or what?

June 2011 - Paperback: Untitled by Michael Reaves and Maya Kaathryn Bohnhoff, featuring a promising holostar - a rags to riches story set against the backdrop of the early days of the Rebellion. Michael Reaves is a good sw author, so this will be interesting

That's it for now - more as it happens.

One question...where the frak is our Darth Revan novel? Unreal. Unless it's announced later on at some point, I'm holding out hope.

Another disappointment is nothing with Mara. I knew it. As soon as Sacrifice happened, they washed their hands clean.

That is a lot of information to get in 30 seconds.

Ok, first, can you please post the link to her blog?

Second, can't they ask Zahn back. Even if he does or doesn't write a story with Mara?
He has great plots and characterization.

I am not interested in the novels based on the TV series.

While I do think they should stop with the Clone War novels already this one I am actually interested in

But how come it will be out in 2 months and I am only hearing about it now?

Jerry, I am ignoring your messy dvds.

My reading list is this:
  • finish Merchant of Venice
    Pride and Prejudice
    Trainspotting
Porno (sequel to Trainspotting, not an actuall porno)
    Order 66
    2 more non SW books
    Shadows of Mindor
    start NJO
That is for the rest of this year

Yeah, we'll see if you ignore it when I post pictures of it.

Long list, there, Steph, better get to work.

Alex, I have my own qualms, though I agree with your Revan stuff.

Hyperspace War? Seriously? Didn't the hyperspace war happen in pre-clone wars era? Still, it's Jaden Korr, gotta love that.

I'm stoked for the Bane novel. I didn't think that the second one was that bad, but I could visualize myself clicking the screen to get through each page....needs to stop that.

I'm having really bad flashbacks on Fate of the Jedi. Troy Denning ends the series again. *shudder* More Hapans (god, I love this culture, but they trash them so).

And if we're in freaking Hapan territory, why don't we have a go by Dathomir. What are the Nightsisters doing? Sitting around and teach rancors to twiddle their thumbs?

Jerry, I agree, I'm puzzled by the Great Hyperspace War novel, we have a DH paperback about this, and it's a good story. Obi-Wan and Quinlan Vos are just padawans at that point, so maybe we'll see some cameos.

See, that's the problem I had with the second darth bane novel. The combat was "clicking the page" Nicely put, I've gotta remember that phrase. I think the 3rd book will be back to the standard of the first one, I still get chills when I think about how good it was actually. Some of the scenes were mindblowingly shocking...when Darovitt had just taken a beating from his "father" once again and was wishing him to die, and basically used to force to kill him by repeating "I wish you were dead", etc and used his hatred in the force to kill his father, that's fraking genious right there. Plus when he found the Revan Holocron...and the line "I am Darth Revan, Dark Lord of the Sith...Speak Servant" just chills!

Anyways, that will be an anticipated novel for me.

I'm surprised no Darth Revan novel yet, but maybe they'll give in and order one? I think Drew would be the man to write it, I wouldn't want anyone else messing with the character he created!

How do you feel about the standalone Zekk and Nomi Sunrider, Fett novels?

Steph, I basically reposted her entire blog entry, Sue Rostoni. It can be found on the SW website if you search for it. TFN has a direct link. Shouldn't the SW board mod know these things

That's the thing I don't get. Jaden Korr was Kyle Katarn's apprentice, so we're talking post Zahn trilogy here, but the subject is pre-clone wars. Very strange.

Alex, honestly, I can only hope it's back to the original book. More of the internal thoughts of Bane, though I do like Zannah enough.

I think they want to leave Revan alone, for the KOTOR comics.

Nomi would be a great novel....Fett, maybe. I'm not so sure about Zekk. He's just an awkward character, why would anyone care about him?

Jerry, not sure if you've seen this from Paul Kemp's blog, the author he explains it a bit more

"It appears that a spokesperson for Del Rey indicated that my Star Wars novel will take place during The Great Hyperspace War. I have already indicated that the novel will feature Jaden Korr, a Jedi born millenia after The Great Hyperspace War, and these two statements, taken together, have caused some confusion.

I don't want to give away major plot points, but in an effort to lessen some of the confusion, I will say this: The novel does contain a scene or scenes that take place during The Great Hyperspace War, and scenes that take place in the present, post LotF period, and the plot of the novel turns on the (I hope interesting) way that past and present intersect.

Hope that is helpful to those who have an interest."

I think it makes sense now. As far as Zekk, I haven't read any of the Junior Jedi Knights, etc books, and he's not really developed much in the NJO. So I'm still "not sold on his character" per say. I'm guessing he gets more to do in DNT and LOTF. Which would explain the stand alone novel?

He was presumed dead at the end of LOTF, and the people who were Jaina/Zekk supporters were upset, so maybe this novel is for them? The way I've seen it in spoiler info is that Jaina and Jag are moving forward?

Fett...We already have the Bounty Hunter Trilogy. Not to say you can't write more books about him as a central character, he's got a good size fanbase as well, so I don't know. I probably won't be picking it up, as I'm sure KT will slip her anti-jedi sentiments in there as well.

However, the Imperial Commando looks interesting...the darn 501st mention is compelling! That's the title
