Agree with you there.

I still don't understand why Lucas wanted to change that. To me, showing us Han's personal growth is such a huge part of the character.

Lucas doesn't seem to understand a lot in SW. It sounds to me like he got caught up in stifling pseudo-morality about what a "hero" should do.

I read that Lucas was concerned kids would misinterpret Han's actions, which I can kind of understand. I still wish he hadn't changed it.

With the exception of SW I don't know of any films that have been damaged because of this concern. There are quite a few shows that children-related censorship has ruined though.

And there are are worse things kids watch these days.
