I think it'd be a difference between a crush and then something that actually makes him think and feel and expand his mind. He was too focused on Rey like nothing else mattered, it wasn't a healthy view of the world.

Like Tar said, the series needed to move away from Finn's unhealthy obsession with Rey's whereabouts. It was established that she can look after herself, and that they both have their own paths to lead. Finn's led him to Rose, and I hope JJ and Chris Terrio have the confidence to move forward with the FinnRose connection, otherwise most of their scenes in VIII will have been for nothing.

It will be interesting to see if Poe and Rey easily accept Rose into the group in IX or if they feel threatened at all by her ideas or friendship with Finn. Maybe their ideas will clash. Poe seemed to like her in TLJ. Personally, I love conflict, so as long as everyone ends up happy, I'm okay for a little arguing

I can't see why Rey wouldn't accept her. Poe? I don't know, but I just can't see any reason why anyone wouldn't like her. I feel like Rose is the heart that brings all the people together

Part of the reason why I think a time jump would be good is because it would skip the introductions stage. I think that would be a good thing.
