Yeah, exactly. I often think a lot of the critics of TLJ (+ TFA) haven't truly acknowledged that Kylo is related to Luke. They're not enemies; they're family. It seems to be difficult for some people to come to terms with that. They're too busy focusing on the negatives all the time, and claiming that Luke was "OOC", rather than accepting that good people can be flawed.

Yes, that seems to be the problem. Especially with the people who still somehow want Rey to be a Skywalker, because it's the Skywalker saga after all, but they can't seem to accept that they already have one. But these are also usually the people who think that Kylo will stay as a villain and ultimately will be defeated by the hero, so they want the hero to be a Skywalker. But like Rian said in the commentary, Ben is will ultimately be the hero of the story too, too bad they can't see that.


I still don't understand why people can't accept that Luke has flawes and is an actual human being

The only reason they now accept Vader was once a human being is because we witnessed Luke forgiving him. Otherwise, they'd probably still insist that Vader being human was just a figment of our imagination

Well, I think it has also something to do with the fact that we actually saw Anakin's human side before he became Vader. But I think that unlike with Vader in the OT, we already so much human side of Kylo and people still don't believe that.

Well, that's the thing -- the Prequels didn't come until years later and when they did, they weren't exactly well-received by everyone.


So, if you're just going by the OT, most people prefer to see Vader as a symbol of destruction.


That's the problem with this fandom; they pick and choose who is good and bad, based on personal preference.


I think Luke's interference in the hut scene will go down as another moment for him as realizing afterward, "oops! Just pushed my Nephew away again."

He definitely didn't give him much reason to turn back to the light. I'm kinda mad about him for doing that. Yet another mistake he made. And eventhough the encounter on Crait was a sort of an apology, I want to hear that from Luke in IX. I just want a conversation where he genuinely apologizes.

^ Yes, and it baffles me that not everyone saw the awful thing in Luke wrecking that moment between Rey and Ben.


She was FINALLY getting through to him, on a real emotional level, then Luke barges in.

They were sitting by the fire and holding hands and Luke's mind went straight to "Omg, he's so evil. I have to stop that!" I thought he knew his nephew better than this
