If Yoda had a different attitude in the two trilogies, it's not because he changed his attitude, it's because Lucas's attitude changed.

29. So he'd be 10 years older than Luke and Leia, and he'd be 10 when ROTS happened.

Lucas did consider having Han be present on Kashyyyk. Perhaps have Yoda tell him "Of this, to no one you must speak. Dangerous times these are. Deny the Jedi you must." Which would be the only way to explain "Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a blaster at your side."

OK, but since GL is the creator, does it really matter?

Yes, Han 10 years older not 12. My mistake there

Well why couldn't Yoda's attitude change? Two decades to reflect and go over what went wrong - anyone one would come out with a different attitude.

Thank goodness Han wasn't in RotS. Messes up the continuity of the Han Solo trilogy books.

Yeah it does. It's relevant what his vision was at particular times. Like what his vision was before it went all screwy.

Tell me about it. I think all Star Wars fans know about people's attitudes changing over two decades.

For example - as a kid RotJ was my favorite. Now it's ESB.

Everyone is making some excellent points, and I'm sorry for not responding sooner.

I think pride and the desire for power were the main reasons why Anakin turned. To be sure, his desire to save Padme, and Palpatine's exploitation of that desire factored in, but even before he turned, Anakin's anger issues and his pride were always evident.

Luke, on the other hand, while having some anger issues, didn't have that pride and desire for power that his father had, so that's why he didn't turn. Obi-Wan truly had taught him well.

I think Anakin's desire for power came from feeling powerless as a slave. And then being told he's the Jedi's Chosen One and the potential to be the most powerful Jedi - pride right there.

I give Beru and Owen more credit for Luke and Obi-Wan.
