I don't mind that Indy as much as most people, it's a ridiculous storyline but I never took Indy as something serious enough for me to get annoyed at it It's just fun to me. Unlike SW which I take more seriously.

Indy 4 was an artistic failure. It was just a rollercoaster ride, it wasn't done like they MEANT it. The original 3 Indy films were pretty unserious, but they still had a certain minimum level of seriousness, of belief in themselves. Villains were threatening, danger was for real, etc. But in Indy 4 it was pretty much all a laugh. It didn't convince, it didn't have conviction and it didn't believe in itself. So even with Harrison, it's not real Indiana Jones to me.
The new Star Wars has the original trio of actors, but it feels too safe, too coddling, too tame (even with Han's death, seeing as that was so predictable). It doesn't feel to me like the filmmakers really believe in the creative vision. They're just playing games with Star Wars and cooking up a slick commercial entertainment product. So even with the original trio it doesn't feel like real Star Wars to me. And notably none of the original trio is allowed their old strength. Han lacks his edge, Leia is subdued, Luke is reduced to giving grumpy glares. It's sort of Star Wars lite. And I want the real thing. __________________

2 (Temple of Doom) is good. That's the second best. Raiders (1) is the weakest of the classic Indy films and Last Crusade (3, with Sean Connery) is the best. 4 just plain doesn't count. I think you agreed with me on 3, Tar.

Raiders is kind of boring. Temple of Doom has much more kick. I remember when that came out, the year after ROTJ and the year before Witness.

I don't take Indiana Jones very seriously. It's a bit of fun, that's all. I think Harrison holds the franchise in too high a regard and Star Wars in too low a regard. Star Wars has so much more to it.

Salusa Secundus isn't Star Wars or a creature.
