| I object strongly to the present top of the board pic. It has prequels stuff big and original trilogy stuff only tiny so you can pretty much miss it's there. The original trilogy is what made the Star Wars legend. The prequels had box office success, but they were never half so big in their time as the original trilogy was in its time (though the Phantom Menace got very big box office earnings due to fans of the original trilogy showing up and hoping for something like the old Star Wars). The originals shook the world and have had a major influence on film and sf (and some other fiction) since. The prequels did not shake the world. Those who don't remember what it was like in the 1977-1983/5 years of the old films may not be able to see how clearly the Star Wars effect was bigger back in the original trilogy time than in the 99+ period of modern Star Wars. They should take my word for it. Back then Star Wars ruled in a way it never has since. That period, those films, created the legend of Star Wars and nothing called Star Wars has had the same effect since then. A board that claims to be Star Wars and not just "modern Star Wars" should at least put the old films on equal footing with the newer ones in its graphic. The Star Trek board puts Captain Kirk (from original Trek) up there as a pic as big as the pics of the more recent captains, despite the fact that original Trek has been surpassed by newer Trek in a way that hasn't happened with Star wars. This board should show the same respect to the older Star wars. __________________ Free Tibet! | |||
