Just jumping in here...

I think Anakin was indeed always hungry for more power and wanted to be more than the Jedi,sorry for mixing "fandoms" here,you can hate me later

but I see a resemblance to Lord Voldemort of the HP saga, I'm just in the middle of reading the last HP book(so try not to spoil me the end thank you

) and he is also a character who wants more,wants to rule the world, wants to rule everything and always wants to be better than the other witches,wants to stand out as the "best" there ever was...those familiar with this world will hopefully understand what I mean...

Anyway,getting back to Anakin, I do on the other hand think he really did love Padme and may have started on the "path to darkness" or further along it because he genuinely wanted to save her but then the more powerful he got he probably somehow got drunk with the power and liked how it made him feel and maybe ultimately saving Padme wasn't so much about saving Padme anymore as it was about the power it would have shown he had,if he'd been able to save her...so I think it was a combination of both,love and power...but the more power he had,the more powerful he wanted to be and then he started to go *really wrong* ...

I'm not an HP fan by the resemblance is the same

I'm sure Anakin wanted to be the best Jedi there ever was. How many times did Palpatine tell him he would become that, even more powerful that Yoda. His ego has been fed.

And I very much agreed with the part I bolded above.

I agree with the resemblance to Voldemort, with the slight exception that Annie didnt go over to the dark side for the power it first but how everything happened after he got the power reminds me somewhat of Voldie.

It was a big ego and ambition that got him there.
Once drunk with the power he felt unstoppable.

I don't think he trusted Obi-Wan to keep his marriage and unborn child a secret. Among other problems he was having.
