Ditto! To be able to study fairy tales, that would be the coolest class!

Hi there! I'm not a regular poster at this board but I would like to contribute something to this thread.

Almost all princesses (or girls in general) are dressed in blue, e.g.:

and even the fairies are blue:

I've never noticed that Lanalee. They really all are dressed in blue.

I've got one, most of the girls all have long hair.

yeah, I noticed that the mother is almost always either dead, or will soon die. Does Disney have something against mothers???

Hey, that's true too. The fathers seem more prominent in their lives.

Here's a few other things...

*Girls are often swept away to other lands (Alice goes to Wonderland, Wendy flies to Neverland and Ariel gets legs and discovers the human world)
*Pets often are kidnapped (the Aristocats, the puppies of 101 Dalmatians and Oliver)
*Immature boys prove themselves worthy eventually (Pinocchio saves his dad and becomes a real boy for this, nerdy Wart becomes King Arthur and Mowgli fights Shere Kahn and goes to a village)
*The designs of villains often contain large amounts of black with tints of purple and/or red (the Evil Queen, Malifecant, Ursula, Jafar, the Queen of Hearts, Chernabog, Cruella)
*The Disney films (including live action and Pixar) that are shot in cinemascope are normally fantasy adventures (Sleeping Beauty, The Incredibles, Pirates of the Carribean, The Black Cauldron, Atlantis)
SPOILER ALERT FOR BAMBI, LION KING, DUMBO AND TARZAN!

*Animal stories often feature a tragedy (Bambi's mother dies, Mufasa dies, Mrs Jumbo is dubbed a loony, Tarzan's real parents are eaten)

so true, so true...

I've also noticed that many disney characters have or wind up with single parents. Case in point:

- Cinderella had an evil stepmother
- Ariel had her dad
- Belle had her dad
- Simba (later) winds up with only his mom
- Jasmine had her dad

I'm pretty sure there could be more examples, but that's all that comes to mind for now .

I've noticed that too. They have single parents, or some of the families aren't exactly the typical nuclear family.

I think Disney is trying to break tradition, though.
