I feel that way too
 I was really looking forward to seeing my favorite turn into a live action. All the Live Action Disney have been AWESOME so far. |

I can kind of understand cause Ariel is a White redhead but way more roles played by POC have been whitewashed as well. That happens way more than this, but I'll still check this out whenever it comes out. The Little Mermaid is one of my top favorite Disney movies.

I don't know. Eric could be a white guy, or maybe Eric becomes a woman. Who knows? I guess anything is possible now with this remake.

i dont think it's a big deal. If people are so set in their ways about how something is, then they dont have to watch it. the original will never change.

I mean, don't get me wrong, it shouldn't be a big deal, her race or colour of skin doesn't matter. As long as she is the right actress/personality for the role, it shouldn't matter. But considering this, like most other Disney live action remakes, they are remaking the animated classics into as accurate or as different adaptations as possible. Perhaps what they're going for with this Little Mermaid is something entirely different to the 1989 animated classic, kinda what they're doing with Mulan so far.
I don't know this young actress, Halle Bailey, but if she's good, and the right personality for the role then I'm fine with it. If she's not, then it could be bad. We'll just have to wait and see. __________________

''The Little Mermaid'' is getting a comic that will be launched by Dark Horse Comics which yes does happen to be my favourite comic book publisher. Terrific news I think. ''Frozen'' & ''Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs'' also have comics by Dark Horse.
