Homeward Bound Appreciation Thread: "Dogs Rule, and Cats Drool"

In so many different ways, I love Homeard Bound 1 so much. It's a very heart-warming movie, albeit some parts are a bit somber. And the cinematography by Reed Smoot is breath-taking, as well as the score by Bruce Broughton. Plus, Don Ameche, Michael J. Fox and Sally Field did great voiceovers. And I gotta admit it, Benj Thall's a cutie. In some spots of Homeward Bound 1, the movie can be really predictable, and some of the humor featured in it is childish at times. But hey, in some ways, it's a geared toward a lot of kids and/or a lot of families, and I still love it.

In some ways, I like Homeward Bound 2, too.

Some quotations from Homeward Bound 1:

Shadow: "I thought you were gonna stay, pup."
Chance: "Yeah, but I thought I should come along in case you two needed protection."
Sassy: "My hero! Guess I'm gonna have to stare at YOUR butt the whole way!"

Sassy: "Chance, stop! The blouse is dead!
Chance: That's right! And I have to shred it into teeny, tiny little pieces, and I --"
[gulps]
Chance: "I swallowed a button...."
Sassy: "Oh, what a shame.... Too bad it wasn't a zipper!"
Chance: "Hey, you better beat it powder puff before I turn you into dog meat! "
Sassy: "Oh, is that any way to speak to a petite dewdrop, you big flat-faced, butt-sniffer?"

And here are some quotations from Homeward Bound 2:

Riley: Well, this is it. Home sweet home. Hey, it's nothing fancy, but the price is right. And nobody bothers us, so you guys can stay as long as you like.
Shadow: Thanks, Riley. You're very kind.
Sassy: Right, if he's so kind, why doesn't he help us find that bridge?
Shadow: We can't leave until we find Chance.
Sassy: Why not?
Shadow: You know you miss him.
Sassy: Okay, I miss his stupid jokes, and his stupid face, and his stupid... Stupidness.
Shadow: Oh, Sassy, stop it.
Sassy: And I'm stupidly starting to worry about him.

Delilah: I've never really felt this way before.
Chance: Me, neither. I wanted to say the same thing to you all day, but then, I thought you'd laugh at me. And then, you'd think I'm a dork.
[Delilah laughs]
Chance: Geez, you are laughing at me!
Delilah: No, I'm laughing with you.
Chance: I knew that.

Oh I just love this movie. It is one of my favorites. I haven't seen it in such a long time.

Those animals have such great character. Chance is my favorite. And Sassy and Shadow are really cool too. They say some of the funniest stuff. Like when Chance calls that big turkey, or whatever it was, Birdzilla. And then when they face the mountain lion. Chance calls it ArnoldSwartz-A-Kitty (sp)?

And it never fails at the end, when Shadow comes walking over the hill after falling into the hole, I start bawling my eyes out. Mostly happy tears. Especially after the first time I watched it. I really thought he had died because he was so old and it seemed impossible for him to get out of that hole.

I do too. Also when they leave them at the farm and Shadow is saying "I don;t know why you're upset but it's okay Peter."

And when Chance keeps saying, "Get up" to Shadow.

Okay I'm getting all weepy just thinking about it.

I love this movie. The animals are so funny!

I also always cry when Shadow comes over the hill.

I don't think I've seen the second one.

I love Homeward Bound. I haven't seen it in years though, I remember watching it over and over when I was younger though. I really have to see it again soon.

Whoa. Totes saving this thread from a two year state of deadness, lol.

I watched the movie last night; hadn't seen it in forever. I love it so, so much. I cry so hard when Shadow's in the hole and Chance has gone down to see him and Shadow's just like "You've learnt everything you need to know, pup. [..] Now all you have to do is learn to say goodbye."
