I prefer longer as well, though her Sweet Home Albama-esque hair is quite pretty, too.

I like it short like that, but prefer it wavy as opposed to the style she had in Sweet Home Alabama with it kind of flipped out. It was cute in the movie and worked with her character though

Sweet Home definitely matched the shorter do. I can't imagine it long for Melanie, just like I could never imagine it short for Elle in LB.

I think they were kind of endorsing Clairol Herbal Essences hair color with it

I'm actually not sure. I think her hair was about that long around that time, but she could've worn them for fullness.

I was looking at some of her pics over the years and I definitely prefer her blonde. I don't know, imo it suits her better. Not that she looks terrible brunette or anything.
