Sad, but true.

They can be happy in heaven where they have their memories back.

A distant relative of mine who had Alzheimer had a wake which felt more like a celebration. I felt weird smiling and seeing other people smile around me because convention tells people not to smile at funerals.

Yes. It was strange to see the children laughing and smiling. They said their goodbyes years ago and were truly celebrating her life instead of mourning.

It's the only funeral I can remember where there was smiling and laughing.

Think you'd be like that given those same circumstances for your parents, or would you be bawling?

I'd be bawling.

I hate to think of it.

Same. A few years ago I had a student whose mother finally died from cancer. He didn't miss a day of school. The deans would keep checking in on him at every class and bring him food and snacks before lunch. I can't imagine going to school if my mother died as if everything was normal, even if it had been expected for a while. Could you?

Yea, I definitely would not be going to school. I can understand maybe he wanted some normalcy, but I also think you need to take time to soak it in without having school work being piled on you.

I did go to school when 2 of my grandparents died. One of them I was in elementary school, the other I was in college.

btw, we lost power because of the storm. No lights, no internet. I am currently posting and working thanks for my godparents still having power.

Hope your power returns soon! Is it weather related or just a random inconvenience like I had here in May?

Weather related. All Isaias' fault. I didn't even think it was that bad, certainly not as scary as Sandy. But trees got knocked down and the whole upper portion of my block was in the dark.

That sucks. Too bad your coast has to deal with storms and hurricanes annually.

Hurricanes are worse down south. It’s a tropical storm when it reaches us.
