I should say since 2 of my great grandmothers were born in Chile that I am South American.

Like my father's great grandfather (the one with our surname) being born in Greece, but for some odd reason, winding up in Mexico. Had he stayed there, I could have been Greek. Oh, well. Greeks think I'm Greek anyway.

Was his family Greek too or did his family travel from Mexico to Greece and then returned to Mexico?
Because my great grandmothers' parents were Sicilian, went to Chile for work, and then returned to Sicily.

Greece is such a beautiful country. I want to go back next year but the financial unrest makes me scared.

No, they weren't from Mexico. I'm guessing they came from Spain given our Spanish title of a surname, landed in Greece for a bit, then settled (why?!) in Mexico.

I wouldn't be surprised! My last name is a title of high rank, so who knows if there was some political/government scandal that they got caught up in and fled Spain.
