That sucks. All about overpriced housing everywhere, it seems. People paying thousands a month to rent a closet.

My sister-in-law just became middle-aged, 35, and her father turned 79. My father's mother will be 79 in a couple of weeks. Crazy how Hugo's maternal grandfather is older than one of his paternal great-grandmothers.

He recently was diagnosed with prostate cancer. This Thursday he had surgery to remove his testicles. Doctors are hoping the cancer hasn't spread to other organs, like his liver. He's a drinker, so the liver would be an easy target for the cancer. Sucks that she has to deal with the health of her elderly parents barely being middle-aged herself. One of the downfalls of being an old parent. If I ever have kids, I'll definitely be one of the old parents. Hopefully my health won't be a burden.

is your SIL the youngest of many children and that's why her dad had her so late?

STOP! I do not want to be considered middle aged when I turn 35.

I want the satisfaction of the apartments being built and then no one buys them and whoever is in charge loses tons of money because of it

She's the youngest of just 3. The oldest is 47, so he was 32 when he first became a father.

Haha, tell that to the 2020 census then when you get labeled middle-aged.

I worked for the 2010 Census and anyone 35+ was labeled middle-aged since the average lifespan is in the 70s. 65+ was elderly, but I thought the 50-64 range weren't middle age, unless one lived to 100-128, of course.

32 is pretty normal to be a dad for the first time. Big age difference, though, between her and the sibling.

A lot of my students get happy at turning 18, but then realize a quarter of their life has passed by, and get a quarter life crisis.

Did you get one?

I don't care about dying. It's going to happen, anyway. The way I see it, each breath is one breath closer to death.

I have yet to have any type of life crisis. I didn't think about my life being a quarter over when I was 18.
I do think about how when I was young I'd love to find out that I was older than someone. And now I don't want to be older than anyone. Funny how that works.
