Do your parents ever regret not giving you two at least an Italian middle name?

I don't think they have any regrets regarding our names. I don't think they should because I think both of us do have nice, well flowing ones.

The only regret my mom has expressed was not teaching us to speak Sicilian. So that we can talk about people in public without them knowing we are talking about them.

That regret makes sense. Not just for the mean reason of being able to talk about people without them knowing but for being able to say you're bilingual. Being multilingual is said to be better for the brain.

Do you ever talk about other people in Spanish hoping they won't understand what you're saying?

Good luck with that! Spanish is more widely known than a dying Sicilian dialect.

I'm not that rude of a person to talk of people in front of them in a foreign tongue most of the time, but it would be easy, even in Southern California. Many non-Spanish speakers take it in high school, or those that go to college, take Spanish there, but they don't know crap. Many Europeans are cultured and speak more than one language. Americans, not so much. For the most part, you can tell pretty easily who speaks just one language by observing them, whether they are Hispanic or not. Many look like they just crossed the border, but don't speak a lick of Spanish. Sad.

Hear them speak, noting their accents, any use of slang, signs of intelligence, body language, tone, etc. As soon as I hear a Caucasian with a southern accent around here, I can usually tell they only know English. A few I sensed weird patterns to their speech, so I could tell they were from Louisiana and knew broken French words, so they were French Creole.

Good thing I'm not often that rude to talk bad about people in front of them in Spanish then.

I should put my title ideas here for future threads: The show where romantic relationships begin The show that ruined a marriage ---> that might be too mean __________________

I wouldn't call their affair a romantic relationship. The latter is more accurate. Or less mean: The show that saved Eve.
